The way I see it, if I reinvest, I'm going to lose more in taxes than I would make in interest, and there's always a chance the investments may fail and I'd lose everything. Jars are the best option for me, and yes I am serious. I don't trust the financial system. Anarchy!

Here's hoping your home never gets robbed.

Inhofe blasts Obama at Grove town hall
We need the real America Back
For real Americans

GROVE — Right-thinking Americans can only hope the country will survive the next 16 months of the Obama administration until Republicans can regain control of Congress, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said Wednesday.

“I never dreamed I would see an administration try to disavow all the things that have made this country different from all others,” Inhofe told more than 300 people at a town hall meeting in the Grove Community Center.

“I have never seen so many things happening at one time so disheartening to America.” Inhofe found a highly receptive audience. Many wore T-shirts of a local organization called Get America Back. Its Web site promises “a plan to eliminate the socialist government and return Americas (sic) freedoms.”

The “plan” is a link to a YouTube video by Lloyd Marcus, a Florida artist and singer making the circuit of anti-Obama “Tea Party” rallies.

Wednesday’s audience was similar to those at town hall meetings throughout northeastern Oklahoma in recent weeks. Concerns centered on the administration and Democratic-controlled Congress.

Inhofe gave his constituents plenty to worry about.

“Every institution that has made this country the greatest nation in the world is under attack,” he said at the end of the 75-minute session.

During those 75 minutes, Inhofe said President Barack Obama is disarming the military, is destroying everything good about America and is determined to turn foreign terrorists loose on U.S. soil.

The good news, he said, is that he does not think the Democratic leadership can push through
health-care reform or the more controversial parts of its energy bill.

He also said he continues to be proven correct in his claim that global climate change is a hoax.

“More and more, with each month that goes by, more scientists agree with me,” he said. “We are winning.”

Inhofe opened by saying the noisy debate over health care has caused Americans to overlook other important issues, including climate change and energy policy.

He is also alarmed, he said, by the proposed closing of the detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Obama administration wants to shutter the camp because of its association with torture.

Inhofe said: “There has never been a case of torture there. The people there are treated better than in the federal prisons.”

He continued, “I don’t know why President Obama is obsessed with turning terrorists loose in America.”

who are the real ameiricans ?

The latest 'outrage': Can someone please explain to me why Fox are all up in arms about the President addressing school kids, and why the think parents should be worried? What. The. Fuck.

I bet these Texas school kids could teach him toe proper way to Pledge His Allegiance!!!
to one nation under God.(Christ)

From the outside looking in, I could easily fall into the misapprehension that American politics is utterly unhinged.

Hey, yeah... welease wojja!@ I want the real Amerika back too! Yeah, I'll have some of that!!! For weal Amewikans no less!! (cheering, hooting, whistling)

don't you people remember
that it came out during the campaign that obama wanted
to have 5 year olds get sex education?

the parents may have a valid concern here.

John McCain nailed Barack Obama on his one accomplishment in education--
Legislation to teach complehensive sex education to kindergarteners.

when was the last time a president had an address like this aimed at k-12 students that some schools are forcing them to watch it? i cant ever remember that happening when i was in school.

Well the infastructure wasn't exactly there for this type of thing for starters...

I do remember watching Reagan on TV during school hours once, but have no clue what he was talking about...

To be honest, I'm not sure what to think of it. I heard blips of it yesterday and most of it was harmless, let's make this world a better place type of thing, but then some I heard was disturbing, but then again it was on Glenn Beck so I'm sure he didn't take it out of context or lie... Nooooooooo, he's a good honest American.

i'll have to hear what was said before i jump to conclusions, but my initial reaction is it sounds a little like brainwashing. you know, more government interference in our lives, telling the kids what they should be going, etc etc.

but thats just my initial reaction, ill have to actually see the speech before i make any snap judgement

The part I heard wasn't even Obama giving a speech it was a mixture of celebrities and average Americans saying stuff like "find a charity you're passionate about..." that kind of thing.

I guess we'll see...

what really has me surprised is how suddenly viciously partisan the Right has become. i understand that we're in tough times, there's war and recession, debt, etc. (most of which are due to Bush 2). but i genuinely thought, and advocated as one of the reasons why i preferred Obama over HRC, was that i thought he'd be able to get beyond such insane and inane "socialist! death panels!" political debate.

i really thought that the Right had such a wealth of hate for the Clintons -- and Hillary, in particular -- that Obama would diffuse most of that. i always saw this hate as an extension of the social divides of the 1960s, mostly due to disagreement over the tragedy in Vietnam.

but now ... i'm not sure what to say. sure, racism is a part of it, but this goes much, much deeper. i do think the numbers are exaggerated. we have a bunch of people making a great big racket, and there are some who may have more informed concerns and aren't screaming about death panels and such at these town hall meetings. but it's the level of vitriol that's startling to me. it surpasses the anger over the invasion of Iraq, and it would seem to me that going to war would invoke much more passion than simply disagreement over health care policy.

seriously. what the fuck is up on the Right? freaking President Bush 1 addressed schools in 1991 and i don't remember anyone's heads exploding. Bush 1 is at least as moderately conservative as Obama is moderately liberal.

i'm just aghast at tantrums.

President Obama is slated to give a speech to America’s school children next Tuesday on the subject of taking personal responsibility for their success in school.

Shame on you, Obama. Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame! :tsk:

And I was sitting here thinking he wanted to socialise success at school as well. Just as the Nazicommunists under Stalitler did. :(

but Bush 1 did this in 1991.

wtf is the difference between then and now?

it also could well be that the 24/7 news media, always aching for sensation, has blown all of this way, way, way out of proportion in the traditionally slow, slow, slow news month of August.

Yes, the number of 24/7 news stations, especially those with a clear political agenda (in both directions) is probably one of the greatest differences. And the organisational power of the internet another.

PRESIDENT REAGAN: Well, thank you very much. Please, be seated. You know, this is a real treat for me, having you here, and to have in a little while the chance to answer some of your questions. Let me also offer a special hello to those of you who are watching on C-Span, or the Instructional Television Network. Thank you for inviting us into your home or your school today ...

And that is a vision that goes beyond economics and politics, it's also a moral vision, grounded in the reverence and faith of those who believe that with God's help, they could create a free and democratic nation ...

Because you see, the taxes can be such a penalty on people that there's no incentive for them to prosper and to earn more and so forth because they have to give so much to the government ...

There was talk about having a gun ban in California. It didn't go through. But I got a letter from a man in San Quentin Prison. And from the prison he wrote me the letter to tell me he was in there for burglary, he was a burglar. And he said, "I just want you to know that if that law goes through, here in San Quentin there will be celebrating throughout the day and night by all the burglars who are in prison."

Just so that we're not being hypocritical...

but now ... i'm not sure what to say. sure, racism is a part of it, but this goes much, much deeper.
I do think there is a natural tendency when political power (/ the nation's political leader) shifts from one party to another, the party losing power doesn't want to admit it could be better now than (or even as good as) it was before

as progress is the only possible route after Bush 2 this does mean that the conservatives have to treat sanity in arguments re. Obama as merely optional

Why is this even an issue?

15-20 minutes. The kids thinking , God, this is lame. Nobody's indoctrinated, nobody's inspired. Just another assembly with an adult, albeit the president, going blah, blah, blah.

I received a phone call from my son's middle school that they WILL NOT be showing President Obama's speech. If a teacher chooses to incorporate it into their learning plan, they will be sending a note home to be signed, giving permission for the student to view the speech.

This is the same school district that put stickers on all the biology textbooks telling us that evolution was only a theory. :|:|

Just so that we're not being hypocritical...

if you think i say that cause it's Obama, you're wrong. i dont care for any president doing this sort of thing. stick to running the country and shut the fuck up.

"yes kids, stay in school and work real hard so you can get a good paying job one day so we can collect more taxes."
