Okay, I'm sure we've all read the headlines now, yes?!

Libby apparently testified to the grand jury that he heard from Cheney that Bush said go for it, you officially have permission to reveal all about Wilson, who sent him to Africa to check on these claims about uranium being sought by Saddam (namely his wife, Valerie Plame, CIA operative) and you are cleared to disperse this info in our campaign to discredit Wilson. Call Judith Miller, tell her already. Call whomever you will and can, to get this out there. Libby claims it was an on-the-fly process whereby the prez officially "de-classified" info because he wants it out there and public.
I want to see Bush be required to answer questions on this one...and I want to see it under oath. If the Dems don't move on this one they are officially without any hope of ever regaining power anytime soon.
This smells like a smoking gun to me...

cheers all...

If this was during the Clinton administration he would have been impeached by now...

Bush's cronies have done a good job of creating an environment of fear, one where questioning the president is unpatriatic...

Just look at the wire tapping issue, he had tons of supporters that said "who cares?"....

Another couple of awkward moments for the President and it passes. Lots of loud, self righteous yapping from the Democrats and lots of sneering spin from Rush about how this is much ado about nothing and it just shows how "desperate" the Democrats are. Indifference from the public who is increasingly indifferent to the President. Poll numbers go down a point or two. More talk in the media about the poll numbers than the case.

Since the Republicans are going to maintain control of at least one of the Houses and nobody can even work up censure support, no impeachment although there will be more rumblings. Now impeaching Cheney is an interesting idea, but that's not going to happen either.

I think BVS might be overstating the environment of fear thing--although no doubt that is what the right has wanted to create and I probably would have agreed with him several months ago. Even the President's lapdog Santorum is looking for ways to separate himself. Increasingly right wing talk radio's hysteria that criticizing the President is endangering the troops is losing steam. Although there are still strong enough remnants about allowing the President to do what he sees fit to "protect" us from terrorists. That still seems to resonate with the public.

If the President claiming that he doesn't even have to abide by laws he signs isn't sexy enough for the public, this thing isn't going to be. Two, three days of attention and the story goes away.

Bush won't get impeached. It's a political process, and he's done a great job of rendering the Legislature as worthless as the Roman Senate.

and with the SCOTUS in his back pocket.

And what would be the point of impeaching him unless there is someone out there with a concrete plan to handle the current state of affairs. If there isn't, it would make a bad situation worse and even more unstable.

Could be that the dems figure they are better off letting things bottom out on the republican watch in the next few years so it will be easier to play hero (even if they don't actually have one) during the next election.

Impeachment is a separate process from a trial to remove the President from office. Remember, Clinton got impeached but was acquitted by the Senate.

Good question...but that seems to be exactly what's happening for some strange reason and it's no longer about being accused of being unpatriotic.

And here was Bush saying he'd fire anyone from his office who was involved with the Plame/Wilson leaks.

Can Bush fire himself?

What happens if Fitzgerald charges Bush (as he should)? Remember, Fitzgerald hasn't finished his investigation. Everybody thought that maybe Rove and Cheney might get fingered, but Bush was a long shot. Now it doesn't seem like such a long shot.

And what will any of this accomplish? A little thing called accountability.

Are the Democrats going to actually stand up for change or parade around as Republicans Lite?

If enough people go out and vote for them and show that we have their backs yes they would stand up for change...if it's a narrow margin they would probably continue to be cowards...which is why I want to see a giant transition with fresh blood.

Nothing will happen with this leak because Bush is President Teflon - nothing sticks to him. Nothing.

If this year's hurricane season is as bad as last year's, Anitram, nothing should be ruled out. Even if the Diebold Inc. Voting Machines "perform" with their usual flair and respect for the democratic process, and do what they were designed to do...*cough*

from an outsiders view, i am so confused with all of this and how every week i hear or read something else that boils my blood within the bush administration but nothing happens....i dont understand why?

I mean this isn't about a blow job or even lying under oath, he has done so much damage, SO MUCH damage, not only to other countries by starting uneccsary wars, but also to the USA. I mean you were always joked about being the fat arrogant pushy tourists, but like all sterotypes it was tongue in cheek, but now you are HAAAAATED DESPISED! There are counties you couldnt step a foot in without getting a bullet to the head, and to be fair, that would be the case in some before the bush admin, but certainly a lot worse now.

Is it because your "middle america" or the so called "bushies" are slow witted, have no sense of adventure or wonder of the world and are quite happy to sit at home in america being force fed american lies and crap and don't care?

And why doesn't someone stand up to the administration? So many people bemoan it, go on about it and shocked and abbhor what is going on, yet it seems like nothing will ever stop this administration. Its like, GWB could walk up to a 5 yr old child shoot them in the face laugh and walk off and nothing would happen to him....

am i seeing this wrong? I'd be happy just to get some feedback from americans living under this absolute joke of a president.

I mean we are all pretty screwed here too, but we've had the same PM for 10 years and he hasn't done a millionth of the shit GWB has...

you'll find few people who despise Bush more than i do, but your post demonstrates an amazing ignorance of how domestic and international politics work.

paint 300 million people living in the most diverse society in history with enormous, self-serving, ignorant brush strokes at your own risk.

I noticed you referred to "wars" in the plural... are you seriously referring to the US-led invasion of Afghanistan immediately after 9/11 as not warranted?

Because the Democratic party has not put forward any viable alternatives. I recall after the 2004 elections that the European press bemoaned that 54 million Americans could not possibly be that stupid to vote for Bush. What they failed to understand is that his challenger at the time, John Kerry, was a complete boob.

this is absolutely true.

much of Bush's "success" comes not from any sort of love for him by the american people, or any sort of measurable accomplishments (there really aren't any), but by his ability to present himself as simply a better alternative to the Democratic challenger.

the Democrats have a knack for stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.

The Taliban/Al Quada Regime has been removed in Aghanistan. Saddam's regime has been removed Iraq. Both are huge accomplishments with massive benefits for both US and Global security. Both are vastly more significant in terms of security than Clintons accomplishments in Bosnia and Kosovo in the 1990s.

On the economic front, the Bush administration has brought the United States out of economic recession and will soon match the best economic performance of the previous administration, which is the best the country ever had.

Considering how the marketplace of ideas is nothing more than a marketplace sold to the highest bidder, perhaps you can see why the Democrats have fallen flat. They only listen to people who have six-figure bank accounts or higher these days.

Of course, the GOP is no different, but they also campaign on the lowest-common denominator: fear.

As absurd as it sounds, no one can deny that one or two damaged voting machines may be enough to turn presidential elections.

Well, instead of making smart ass comments, maybe explain WHY you think im ignorant? I'm not expecting bush to be escorted from the white house in cuffs, hat im saying is that for all your simpering, all your bitching, you do NOTHING. for everyone going on and on and ooooooon over Iraq and WMD and NOW fecking Iran and North Korea and how he seems like a simpleton making the most important desicions of YOUR lives you just sit back have a bitch to people around you and do nothing. Is that how a wonderful "democracy" is suppose to work?

Actually what i really tihnk, is your political system sucks, you give ONE person immese power and yet you go on about being a democracy when really, its a step or two away from saddam reign.

And yes i said WARS. Because i believe Afganistan was uneccesary they then went gung ho into it, captured a few taliban and some "terrorists" killed a lot of innocent people and then didnt even get the person they went in looking for!! Plus the war in Iraq and now the CIVIL war in Iraq which the US can take the blame for as well. Add in the impending war in Iran that im sure will go down and thats four and counting..

and the most diverse society? LMAO. Whatever...hahahahah

dazzinglyamy, dont really care for any of your comments, execpt the last one.

Why do Americans think they are the most diverse country in the world? I couldnt disagree more, especially when you see attitudes towards say, Mexicans and Muslims. Diverse maybe, but diversity must include acceptance, which I think other countries do a better job of.

:applaud: This is so true. It's senseless but it seems the Bush family has the young Shrub planted firmly in the White House. Somehow we need to dig him out of there!
