He speaks only dispair, not hope.

He only divides, never unites.

He seeks the spotlight, not the reality.

His words/actions are way below Martin Luther King Jr.

He has not carried the mantle in grace, but disgrace.

What do you think?

Jesse's not the leader MLK was. But heavens, how many times do we get a leader like that? Nobel Prize Peace Price winner and the works. There's no replacing him.

throw mud if you want

Jackson has done a lot of good

MLK in his day was hounded
and thought less of by many/ maybe even most in the country than Jackson is today

John Brown for that matter
is one of our Greatest Americans
that history ignores or distorts

Jesse Jackson is in no way the speaker MLK was.

And John Brown of Harper's Ferry fame? I don't know if I would if I would catagorize him as one of the Greatest Americans. :hmm:

Is Jackson as strong of a leader as MLK? No, but I'm not exactly sure it's worthy of a thread.

jackson's 88 or maybe 92 convention speech was brilliant

as I said

"Greatest Americans
that history distorts"

you don't have to agree

I don't like it when people refer to him as the Reverend Jesse Jackson. He isn't a reverend. He was never ordained. He just gave himself that title.

Jesse Jackson hasn't been assassinated; hence, he will never be idolized.

"the Reverend" is an honary prefix...

You can probably say the same for most evangelical Protestant "ministers."
