Ditto. And I don't think Palin is any sort of traitor. I just think she's a woman I don't care to see in the White House.

I can't stand the implication that because a woman is on the ticket, I should feel a strong pull to Vote Uterus, and that I'm some kind of traitor myself for not doing so.

I also can't stand the general sense coming from some right-wingers of "Neener neener, you liberals are all just jealous that we got a woman on the ticket and she's on our side, not yours! Where's your progressive god now, Commies? Nyah!"

I do think there's been too much mean-spiritedness about Palin coming from many camps, and it's a shame her family situation was such a strong focus, but heaven forbid someone comes to the decision that gosh, I don't think I like her as a politician and don't want to vote for her.

Fascist writer Westbrook Pegler, an avowed racist who Sarah Palin approvingly quoted in her acceptance speech for the moral superiority of small town values, expressed his fervent hope about my father, Robert F. Kennedy, as he contemplated his own run for the presidency in 1965, that "some white patriot of the Southern tier will spatter his spoonful of brains in public premises before the snow flies."

It might be worth asking Governor Palin for a tally of the other favorites from her reading list.

I think that the concept of equal rights and universal suffrage are compatible with opposing abortion rights. I really don't see how feminist necessitates support for abortion rights.

WHAT THE F#*K!!!

Could someone please confirm for me and others if this story is real???
I have no idea who this guy Mark Levin is but if this is true then ABC News really did a hatchet job on the Palin/Gibson interview. Which would be really weird. What the hell is going on here - maybe the left IS as nuts as the right in America.

So, technically, except the way between Ramstein (airport) and Landstuhl (hospital) she didn't even touch German soil.

erm, reading what they edited out actually makes me think she's even more clueless than i thought -- seems like they cut out the endless repetition of the memorized soundbytes, "keep our eye on russia" and "we cannot repeat a Cold war" and they actually cut out a huge assist he gave her on the Bush Doctrine.

yes, Harry, just what the hell is going on here?

do tell us.

feminism has always been concerned with the emancipation of women from their traditional social roles given to them by virtue of their gender.

the key word is traditional.

Yes, I'm aware of that.

Quote:
The most prominent pro-life feminist organization is Feminists for Life.
Which is the anti-abortion group that Palin is a member of.

If I wanted to take the time, I could sit here and come up with a theory as to why women should not get equitable pay in the workplace, how it would be better for families and for society as a whole if they didn't. If I were persuasive enough, I could get at least a few other women to agree with me. Probably conservatives, because realistically, how likely would a liberal be to agree with this? Then we could cloak ourselves in the feminist label, saying how equal pay ultimately makes us slaves to men, and oppresses us, or something, and voila, we'd have ourselves a movement. And you know what? It would be bullshit. Just like Feminists for Life is. The fundamental ingredient of feminism is choice, and that's what they're trying to take away.

Before I explain what I see in the interview, let me first state that I am disgusted with both the left and the right media in the U.S. - the only two "civil" folks in the whole circus appear to be Obama and Palin (is it a co-incidence that they are the least "experienced" of the four???) - in fact, if Palin was a little less extreme and more centered she would have made ten times the running mate for Obama than Biden or Hillary. Unfortunately she is far too right for that position. Having said that, it is obvious to me that ABC "edited" out these parts NOT for time but for a bias towards Obama. They made Palin (who is most certainly NOT an intellectual by any stretch) look scarier than she may have come off if they included the full interview (especially the Russia question!!!). And then there's Charlie Gibson, coming off looking like a snooty schoolteacher. This whole election has certainly taught me alot about "politics" and may I predict that sometime in the near future America (for better or worse) will elect a commonman/woman for the highest office. This banter about experience is a bunch of hogwash. Look what "experience" has gotten you into all these years.

"like President Bush, she seems to compensate for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisiveness."

I think to critique Palin for her lack of experience--at least if you're an Obama supporter--is to wield a double edged sword. You have to be prepared to explain why the experience issue is important for Palin but not for Obama. I think the key to such an explanation is in the quote from the article on Palin that was posted here.

The issue, for me, is less experience but judgement. I don't get the sense of brashness and excessive decisiveness from Obama that we got from Bush. It's Bush's governing style--the kind of shoot from the hip, cowboy approach, especially in foreign policy--that was a problem more than his lack of experience. After all, his closest advisors had decades of government experience and they were hardly trying to "reign him in." Bush would make a great "movie president." I could totally see him beating up the bad guys himself if he had to. Palin would make a great movie VP.

But we don't live in the movies. We live in real life.

First off, I'm not sure if I buy this transcript 100%. According to this transcript some of the sentences were cut midsentence, I watched the interview and didn't notice anywhere where this could have taken place, but who knows.

Secondly, I don't think any of the cut interview really showed anything we didn't see before. The same repeated rhetoric, and who knows without seeing it how it actually came off, did she stumble, hesitate, look nervous?

I see no conspiracy...

A feminist would also not approve of making women pay for their own rape exams-or sign off on any budget that allowed such a thing

Another PUMA Hillary supporter switches to McCain:

Top Clinton fundraiser backing McCain, not Obama 1 hour, 56 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - John McCain's campaign says the Republican is picking up the support of a top Hillary Clinton fundraiser and member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild has said she thinks Democratic nominee Barack Obama is arrogant and has a problem connecting with average Americans.

Rothschild is a member of the DNC's Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York. She was one of Clinton's top fundraisers, bringing in more than $100,000 for her presidential campaign. She built a multimillion-dollar telecommunications company before marrying international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild.

Rothschild plans to announce her support for McCain on Wednesday in Washington.
