The Fly
According to a poll recently on Channel 4 in the UK the majority of people said that the biggest threat to world peace was not Iraq or Al Quada but the USA.. This is from people in a country who`s goverment are supporting the possible US invasion of Iraq with troops and equipment. Anti Americanism is growing by the day, millions of people will march in all the major cities of the world tomorrow against a war on Iraq. The US could conquer every country in the world but would still have to deal with terrorism. If there is solid proof that the Iraq goverment had anything to do with 9.11 or was harbouring terrorists where is it? A lot of Colin Powells speach the other day has been discredited, even by Hans Blix the chief weapons inspector.
Iraq has very weak defences, The US and UK badly weakened Iraqs army during the Gulf war and have been doing so sparodically ever since, We will be fighting a country that cannot really defend itself, Its like a School Bully picking on the weak. When was the last time Saddam Hussain said he will can and will Nuke America if provoked as North Korea did this week, yet where are the troops massing on the Korean Border even though Bush said it was part of his "Axis of Evil"
What I do not understand is why after all that happened on 9.11 the US and UK want to attack Iraq when they should be concentrating on flushing out these terrorists cells. I find it ironic that we in Britain are sending troops to fight Iraq when at the same time thousands of immigrants are pouring through the channel tunnel, Who are these people? why are most of them young males with no family, This country could be harbouring hundreds of terrorists and we would not know until its too late.
I fear war agaist Iraq is inevitable, Bush is so determined to go to war that nothing will stop him, The only reason he is going through the United Nations is because of pressure from Britain, The world powers are starting to stack up against the US and UK and a second resolution seems unlikely, A war with Iraq could spiral out of control. however bad Saddam Hussains regime is I dont see why its up to us to sort it out, If Bush thinks all these countries with weapons of mass destruction are a threat to America where will he go next? where will it end? who designated the US the worlds police? It will only stir up more anti Americanism and more attacks like 9.11. Why is Bush so determined to go to war, maybe the US administration knows something everybody else doesnt, but unless it comes up with a better exuse for war, people will not support it. The only heartening thing I see is the amount of Americans and British against this war. Mabye (Hopefully) constant pressure will bring Bush and Blair to their senses.
It amazes me that a prime minister can go ahead with plans for war even though most of the country dont agree with it? He must be very brave (Or very misguided) Lets hope we dont live to regret it....
