Maybe it's just me, but I really don't like the idea of the "playing cards" being issued with pictures of the top 50 wanted in Iraq or whatever it was. I can understand they needed to get the pictures out there, but couldn't there have been a better way? . I dunno, it just kinda seems like it's all just 'a game'

I thought that when I saw this reported too. It does make it almost seem like a game. :( Surely they could just have given out pictures of those people without putting them on playing cards and making it all something of a joke.

Think of if you're a soldier in the desert with nothing to do when you have some free time except play cards. Its like flash cards. Play blackjack, remember you won with the Ace of Spades with Saddam Hussein. Hey, its that guy from the Ace of Spades. Just a memory recognition exercise.

i hated it too. i'm from southern nevada, a gaming mecca. cards are almost sacred in these parts. i found it foul, and so did many of my friends, who are dealers in the casinos.

thumbs way, way down

while i dont like the idea of playing cards with the most wanted as pictures, i'd have to agree with this statement.

I think too big of a deal is being made out of this. It's playing cards, not religious idols. I have to agree with sharky on this one.

Klaus -- it wasn't merchandising products. the decks were given only to soldiers working in Iraq. No public sales.

You can get your own copy of the playing cards from Centcom.Mil. This is a pdf file - not a real deck of cards, but a picture of the full collection on one sheet.

As distasteful as this may seem to some, the deck of cards was a great moral booster for troops stationed in Iraq.

Honestly, I still don't see what the big deal is. I think it's a cool idea. I wish I had a deck of these...lol.

I think there are more important things to grumble about than a deck of non-commerical playing cards.

I can find out tomorrow at work. Someone in my office found then for sale somewhere in Arlington/DC, but you had to put your name on a list to order them.

Ebay is ful of them, and I've been getting junkmail about them constantly. They're selling for $7 for 1 pack or $20 for 4 + $6 shipping. Do a search on google if you want one.

I've been thinking about Ghazi Hammud Al-Ubaydi. He is the Two of Hearts in the deck.

Do you think his friends make fun of him because he was not evil enough to warrant a higher ranking card?

In this Wednesday April 30, 2003 handout photo from Greenpeace, U.S. President George W. Bush appears as the ace of spades in a the deck of cards issued by anti-nuclear campaigners who have created their own most wanted list. The Greenpeace deck is meant to focus attention on the dangers posed by nuclear arsenals and 600 decks are being handed out to delegates at a two-week meeting on the 1968 Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, in Geneva, Switzerland.

I get e-mails all the time about those cards, and I admit, I want to buy a set. But I don't know which ones are the "official". I guess the only official ones are those given out to the troops. I've seen them for $20.00 or $5.00
