Newest PPP poll out of Florida...

Newt Gingrich: 47 (10)
Mitt Romney: 17 (30)
Herman Cain: 15 (7)
Ron Paul: 5 (8)
Michele Bachmann: 4 (6)
Jon Huntsman: 3 (3)
Rick Perry: 2 (24)
Rick Santorum: 1 (2)
Gary Johnson: 0 (1)

Pretty remarkable Noot surge.

for sometime now, I have considered Romney the foregone conclusion nominee.

at this point with the early primaries only weeks away, I would put Newt and Romney both at about 50/50

and Newt is on the up swing (insert Bob Dole Viagra joke here)

with that said, Obama can more easily beat Newt, the Good Old Boys in the GOP may yet pull this out, for Obama

the smart GOP sat this one out -- though the economy gave them hope, they knew that Obama is still going to be tough to beat, especially now that the economy is showing promising signs of improvement (barring, of course, a Eurozone collapse) and though the unemployment rate will still be historically high, it will be moving in the right direction. nothing is a given, we're all too filled with PTSD to be sure of anything.

the GOP 2016 bench is deep, and better to throw up a Bob Dole now than lose a potential winner in 4 years.

No doubt. If Obama wins in 2012, 2016 is going to be an epic election battle between 2 pretty awesome candidates.
(I pray that statement comes back to haunt me in a good, Dem way. )

I wonder when the GOP will look at their "Bob Dole" and realize they better get serious about their House and Senate races instead.

it does not matter

but a reasonable man could take Romney at his word,
based on the context of those questions and answers

example, Mass health care should be a modle for the nation?

Yes. >>>> each state should work out for themselves what they want. If the majority of the people of the State want a State - wide plan, that is what they shoud have. that is what happened in Mass.

um, wow. now, granted, no one really believes Rassmusssen because it's skewed conservative, but this is still remarkable:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has surged to the largest national lead held by any candidate so far in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters finds Gingrich on top with 38% of the vote. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is a distant second at 17%. No other candidate reaches double-digits.

The national survey of 1,000 Likely Republican Primary Voters was conducted on November 30, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Election 2012: Republican Presidential Primary - Rasmussen Reports?

several blogs are pointing to Romney's disasterous Fox -- yes, Fox -- interview as having revealed that the Emperor Has No Clothes and that, outside of debates, he's kind of not very good. at least not in interviews.

i'd still think that it's Romney's race to lose, but he's certainly no longer inevitable.

that is kind of what I posted yesterday

at this point with the early primaries only weeks away, I would put Newt and Romney both at about 50/50

and Newt is on the up swing (insert Bob Dole Viagra joke here)

I did not need to see any polls

it's like mucical chairs, the music will stop
and Newt's ass is pretty close to the last open chair

what a great process

after looking at this

In an interview with Jake Tapper of ABC News, Gingrich sounded like LeBron James vowing to bring Miami an NBA championship.

GINGRICH: "I'm going to be the nominee. It's very hard not to look at the recent polls and think that the odds are very high I'm going to be the nominee. And by the way I don't object if people want to attack me, that's their right. All I'm suggesting that it's not going to be very effective and that people are going to get sick of it very fast. And the guys who attacked each other in the debates up to now, every single one of them have lost ground by attacking. So they should do what they and their consultants want to do. I will focus on being substantive and I will focus on Barack Obama."
This is just the latest example of why "humble" isn't a word typically associated with Gingrich. It's also an example why Gingrich may not wear well with many voters who might prefer their eventual nominee to at least wait until voting actually begins in the Republican caucuses and primaries before he begins writing his convention-acceptance speech.

Gingrich's position on attacking his rivals dovetails with what he has reportedly told his staff, that they aren't to attack the other candidates for the Republican nomination, particularly the man who was previously the odds-on favorite for the nomination, Mitt Romney.

According to Real Clear Politics' Erin McPike:

According to Gingrich campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond, "In response to the dynamics over the last 24 hours about the attacks coming our way, his instructions to us were to not say anything bad about Mitt Romney."

I'd say Newt has a plan

Get the nomination,
and then get Mitt to be his V P

take advantage of Mitt's well organized machine and big money.

at this point, absolutely not.

But, I also remember 1980, and how much animosity there was between Reagan and Bush 1 or one could go back to 1960 with Kennedy and Johnson.

Newt is smart to not want to attack Romney at all.
I do think Newt would jump at a chance to be Romney's Dick Cheney.

 musical chairs is the perfect way to describe it

Christ, can we just for once dig up someone worthwhile? This is so depressing.

Herman Cain is hilarious, he actually said in NH last night that people are dredging up these allegations because 999 is so threatening.

Well flip it over and it IS 666

Remember, you have overcome many adversities in your life. You have pulled yourself up by your bootstraps through sheer determination and honesty. You were delivered from cancer. My prayers are for strength and guidance for you and your beautiful family this weekend. "

"Don't give up! Unfortunately, this is the way of politics in America. If they can't legitimately challenge you face to face, they dig up every piece of dirt they can find. And if they can't find it, like now, they make it up and twist the truth. I believe in you and the only reason this is happening is because you got them running scared. The more they attack, the more effective you are. Keep going - we're all behind you!"

"Mr. Cain, To me you are the embodiment of the prayers of every faithful believing slave who turned to ALMIGHTY GOD for deliverance from slavery and inequality. You are the embodiment of Martin Luther King Jr. 'I have a dream' speech. You are the only hope I have for a future in America!Be strong and of good courage Mr. Cain, Our God Reigns! "

Donald Trump will moderate a GOP Debate. The campaign has officially become a parody. What will SNL do, just show actual footage?

1st question: have any of you actually touched Obama's birth certificate?
