Got #2 yesterday afternoon. Was fine till around 5 am when I woke up with the chills. That, and the ability to take Teams calls within my own head, are the only side effects so far.

My Sonos mysteriously stopped working, but I can now see in the dark.

Arm is sore but nothing bad. My head hurts a little but not sure if it’s 5G or the red wine with dinner.

Read that Pfizer believes we’ll get six months of protection from their vaccine.

Assume yearly boosters are in order then.

Good news too is that their vaccine works great against the SA variant which seems to be the problem child in regards to immunity escape

The finding was that the vaccine was “highly effective after 6 months” FYI

With our data limited by time, there's no true way of knowing how long the vaccines will last until we get to that point. If it's been 6 months and the vaccines are still effective, they can only realistically promise 6 months.

Exactly. It’s only been 4 months since mass vaccination and another 2 since the start of trials in large numbers.

Yeah, I misread that.

Here's hoping it's a very long time.

It also so imperative that we get SA, Africa, and other parts of the world caught up on vaccination too. More hosts, more chance to mutate and change the course of how we beat this.

It will be longer, they just have to wait to gather data.

Science (as top tier as you can get for biomedical papers) published a study showing that natural immunity lasts "at least 8 months" - again, it will likely be much longer, but they just have to track the participants.

Dave, I'm betting you'll get your shot in May.

Things are moving very quickly now, particularly since the elderly appear to have higher than expected vaccine hesitancy for a whole whack of reasons. Toronto is open for 60+ at mass sites, some of the hospitals have moved down to 50+ or 55+ as of today, just a matter of time.

Now watch everyone take the Easter weekend off as if there isn't a fucking pandemic.

Got my double dose of Bill Gates nanobots a few hours ago.

Vaccinated people, let's talk amongst ourselves.

With apologies for the total privileged question I am asking, but there are now available appointments for both Pfizer and J&J in my area and we are really struggling with our decision. I have an appointment for Pfizer tomorrow but could likely get a J&J for early next week. It's kind of a hard call. Any (scientifically-informed) advice?

The differences in real world are negligible. If I was given the choice I would have taken J&J so that I'd be done in one shot vs. two

I'd go for J&J for the same reason, one and done.

I got J&J. Definitely had some side effects (fatigue, somewhat intense muscle ache, soreness) but nowhere near what the Moderna 2 people sometimes describe.

I probably at the time would have chosen Pfizer if given the option, but I can’t find anything that makes a convincing case that J&J isn’t good enough, and it’s a more “traditional” vaccination, which I kind of like. And I’m done. At 3 weeks in, I’m about as immune as I’m ever going to need. My husband has to go back next weekend for #2.

Nothing scientific there, but some thoughts.

I’d get the soonest one available.
