In Berlin, everything except restaurants had to close down last night, after the Senate passed the necessary law more quickly. It's an extremely dynamic situation as they say.
Restaurants may remain open, but have to keep 1.5 metres distance between tables. I assume they will be asked to close down at a later stage, or only do home delivery. Delivery services now offer contactless delivery, you just need to indicate where the food is to be placed in the comment box.
Public transport will be kept running normally as long as possible, so that people can get to work, to doctors or hospitals etc. With everything closed, fewer people have an incentive to go out, thus allowing for more space in the trains and busses.
The only thing I don't get: Testing is only available in limited numbers each day. Most people get asked to call again when their symptoms worsen. The explanation I saw was to keep the laboratories from clogging up. However, countries like South Korea, using the same test kit, were able to process ten to twenty thousand tests a day, so why can't we scale up. I have a mild lung condition, which normally doesn't affect me. But this past week I felt some chest pain, issues breathing and dry cough. So everything except fever. I'd just like to know if it's psychosomatic or of concern. I'll try calling my physican tomorrow to see whether she can organise a test.
