The Encore casino in Boston is going to take the temperature of everyone there before allowing them in. Hope they properly sterilize the thermometer after every person.

They have no-touch ones now. Game changer for those of us still remembering the old days!

they're using rectal thermometers to give their guests the experience of how their wallet feels after a night at the casino.

I know they do but somehow I still think they should sterilize them. Accidental contact and just healthy practice. It's just bizarre to me, never thought I'd see the days of human temp monitoring at a casino.

Baseball is starting soon, probably no fans at those games either. Bizarro world we are living in.

I read that people are still going to movies accdg to the box office numbers. I hadn't been to a theater for weeks only because it's a lull time for new movies/anything I find worth seeing. Yesterday I wanted to see that new Ben Affleck movie. $5 Tuesday. But my anxiety was bad and I thought of wiping down the reclining seat with Lysol wipes and how weird I'd feel doing that. And how much people seem to cough in movie theaters. So I didn't go. Of course I sit in those seats all the time with no Lysol wipes and I know they don't clean them.

And I'm a person who flew across the country two months after 9/11, and went to see The Joker a few days after the mass shooting at that movie.

Lovely. I saw the new Virginia Woolf on Broadway last Friday, and one of the ushers who was working now has it.

So fun.

Anyone reading the stories from Italy? It sounds horrific. What's terrifying is thats what all of us can expect soon.

There is a chance I’ll be on vacation soon as my work is considering limiting the number of people working so that only the bare minimum (the most important things are done) we can’t completely shut down as we are an essential service (I work in a waste water treatment plant). I hope they will allow us to take sick time instead of vacation but I think they will have us use our vacation. I guess I’ll be hitting the ski slopes or just staying home and do nothing.

Oh no, I hope and pray you won't get it.

I'm supposed to go to Riverdance in early April, they haven't cancelled it. I don't feel comfortable going. Swan Lake ballet in early May, looks like that's out for me too. I read that some cancelled events aren't refunding money, I think SXSW was one of them.

Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if my family has/had it. We are in Western Washington. I’ve been feeling pretty under the weather since Saturday, my wife also, and our kids were both sick. Lots of the same symptoms. But none of us is too bad, and we’ve self-quarantined. Kids are pretty much over it. I work from home 100% of the time. My wife is staying home from work (unfortunately her job does not offer sick leave or even paid time off, but I’m working overtime, so it balances out). I haven’t been out of the house since Friday. Still have the energy to work on the album I’ve been making over the last year and some change despite the overtime. But we are relatively young (early-mid 30s) so we are probably in the clear from severe stuff. But we are doing our part staying out of the public.

Some chance I have a family member who just got over it, and the hospital he went to did and said nothing about it. Unexplained random pneumonia after suddenly finding it hard to breathe. No other symptoms. Currently consulting with public health.

Very similar situation here.

My 2-year-old daughter came down with fever and cough about 3 weeks ago. Very slight nasal drip, but mostly fever, nasty cough and miserable feeling/fatigue. We kept her on Tylenol/Advil, home from daycare. I called the doctor and they said the same old, likely viral, keep an eye on fever if it lasts 5 days. On the 5th day I called the doctor's office and nobody called me back (weekend). Had a miserable night and she woke up with a crazy high fever on the 6th day, at which point I took her to the ER. They asked if she'd traveled abroad and when I said no, there was no real concern that I saw. Her oxygen saturation (PulseOx) was low, 92% (normal is 95-100), they immediately sent her to x-ray and she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Started her on antibiotics right away since they thought likely some bacteria in there and sent us home. Within 72 hours she had made almost a complete recovery, just remained tired and would sleep 13 hrs overnight as opposed to her usual 10.5-11. We all got sick after except my husband - me, my 4-year-old son, my parents (who are 66 and 71). Everyone has recovered.

But it makes me wonder, as test rates here are really low.

If by some chance I had it right now and became symptomatic tomorrow I would trigger the temporary shutdown of a multi billion dollar industry - which would be fun!
