You mean leftwing gay people that hate conservative gay people? Have you seen examples of this in practice? For example, are conservative gays discriminated against by liberal gays, or do they feel they have to keep their views to themselves? Often majorities tend to discriminate against minorities, so it would not be surprising if conservative gays faced a lot of ostracism from their communities.

PS: Martha and BVS, stick to the day jobs, I do not see a glittering career in comedy in front of you.

no, if anything, the "conservative gay" seems to be a bit of a phase, kind of like going goth your sophomore year of high school. it draws attention, and it can be fun to tweak the establishment, but most eventually realize that they're only cutting themselves.

Well, the various gay leaders (e.g., Griffin, Haider, Petzner, Fortuyn) of the far right movement in Europe seemingly didn't grow out of it and went further to the extreme as they grew older! But I digress.

Have you ever in fact met a conservative adult gay person?

yes. you'll find that gays are as diverse as any other constituency. they are as a group consistently left voting because the right wing has centered their social platform around homophobia, but you can find any strain of thought you want.

Would you ever ask such a question or make such a statement about straight people or black people?

It just shines through sometimes.

But you just said not a few minutes ago that the 'conservative gay' was just a phase that most grew out of.

Is this writer also a homophobe?

You implied I was a homophobe. I want you to tell me if you think Johann Hari is a homophobe also.

So is this going to be the defense from now on?

If there is a story about racism, you'll find a black writer that has written some disparaging article about black people using rumors and speculations?

If there is a story about anti-semitism, you'll find some a Jewish author...

If there is a story about misogyny you'll turn to Ann Coulter?

for many, yes. i was being fresh, to a degree, but many gays have a strong libertarian impulse that's usually tempered by the fact that the Republicans actually are out to get them. but this doesn't apply to everyone.

you see, it's difficult to make broad, sweeping statements about a group of people who are found at a very consistent percentage (5%, give or take) across every society, every country, every socioeconomic status, across history.
