In the eyes of the most credible sources, planet Earth can sustain a half-billion humans without any sizable destruction of our habitat, or any loss in species or stability of our ecosystem. Any numbers higher than that, no matter how much they recycle, will cause environmental chaos. The modern leftist-tinged environmental movement is terrified of telling anyone that they cannot breed and keep buying whatever strikes their fancy, but someone must do this in the future. The sooner we do it, the fewer people in the future will be left without a means of sustenance and thus require termination.

much as on all other of his other "ideas" I can't really find on this website what solution (his reasoning behind this) Mr. Linkola has to offer us

I agree,..the world is maybe overpopulated with people who want a house with 10 bedrooms and 5 toilets,....and addicted to consuming.

Are GM crops the answer to solving food shortages ?
Silly question but, can GM crops be used as Biofuels ?

Why is it a silly question? If they are safe for human consumption, deliver better nutrition and grow under harsher conditions with less land use and fewer pesticides they can reduce food shortages.

it's not that there isn't enough room for the present population, but we do not have the necessary natural resources
which does have a lot to do with the way we consume
but i don't think that can be reversed that easily

it will only get worse as the amount of consumers will just keep increasing
at a work meeting some people were pondering the options of the African market for our company (and we make sweets, so not actually one of life's basic necessities )
the general consensus is that at some point it will be done, but at the moment no one (hardly anyone) will invest there as the Asian market is the place to go for a quick return in investments
once the Asian market has been satisfied though Africa will follow
so the number of consumers will just keep growing & growing
