What cover up are you talking about? We're talking about Bush covering up Cheney's CIA leak orders. That's what this thread is about.

I can't get over the fact that after I blatantly pointed out that I'm an independent, you called me a liberal.

I am displaying the point of how Scooter Libby gave this woman the right to tell the authorities about him and everyone else w/ this waiver. Where is the cover up in that? He is giving himself up so she can get out of jail.

Right. The reporter got her info from Libby. No cover up there.

The point of this thread/discussion is that Libby took the fall for Cheney. Cheney okay'd the release of info about Plame. The commutation of the sentence prevents anyone from going after Cheney for releasing classified info. That is the cover up.

What the HELL does Judith Miller have to do with the fact that Libby was indicted because his testimony to a federal grand jury was inconsistent with previous notes?

Libby PERJURED himself and no amount of Armitage or Miller or Clinton or Tinky Winky changes that nor has any relevance!

This discussion is so beyond unreal and stupid that it's really not worth it.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with what we are talking about, just like Bill Clinton, immigration, and partisan politics.

To summarize this thread, everyone trying to defend Bush did so by ignoring the actual issue.

Yes, but do you know that if you read between the lines, Judith Miller (the New York Times reporter who went to jail) received a "voluntary" waiver from Scooter Libby giving her permission to speak to the courts. So, that should have been taken note of. Libby allowed himself to be put out there, but she decided not too do that.

I was gonna ask your opinion deep, but you apparently are no longer premium. At least in the sense of this forum.

perhaps Bush should grant himself and Cheney pardons like
Ford did for Nixon

Much of US favors Bush impeachment: poll
Jul 6 03:59 PM US/Eastern
Nearly half of the US public wants President George W. Bush to face impeachment, and even more favor that fate for Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a poll out Friday.

The survey by the American Research Group found that 45 percent support the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against Bush, with 46 percent opposed, and a 54-40 split in favor when it comes to Cheney.

The study by the private New Hampshire-based ARG canvassed 1,100 Americans by telephone July 3-5 and had an error margin of plus or minus three percentage points. The findings are available on ARG's Internet site.

The White House declined to comment on the poll, the latest bad news for a president who has seen his public opinion standings dragged to record lows by the unpopular war in Iraq.

The US Constitution says presidents and vice presidents can be impeached -that is, formally charged by the House -- for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" by a simple majority vote.

Honestly,

I do expect to see a lot of blanket pardons on his last day in office.
Especially if a Dem wins Whitehouse and there are Dem gains in Congress.

I read an article where this guy predicts Cheney will resign for "health reasons." One can only hope!

What would be the point at this juncture, except to bolster the GOP.

W's poll numbers would go up, and it would take some pressure off the GOP candidates for congress, kind of like when Rummy resigned.

It may just be a question of timing.

Not before the end of 07 or early 08?
