Bush And Koizumi In The Jungle Room
The Japanese PM's rendition of that Elvis song is even worse than mine
"President George Bush will take the Japanese Prime Minister and Elvis fan, Junichiro Koizumi, on a tour of Graceland, Presley's glossy, guitar-stuffed mansion today.
The visit is the final stage of Mr Koizumi's farewell trip to the White House. The Japanese Prime Minister, who leaves office in September, has been one of Mr Bush's closest allies and last night the two leaders spoke of their warm affection for each other, as well their shared appreciation for the singer.
"Officially, he’s here to see the President, but I know the highlight of his visit will be paying his respects to the King," said Mr Bush, who gave Mr Koizumi a juke box stuffed with Elvis recordings as a present. The two men and their entourages will be shown round Graceland by Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, and widow, Priscilla.
Mr Koizumi's love of the King is well documented. He has told Japanese interviewers how the sound of Presley's voice soothes him after tense negotiations. In the past, he has performed a duet with Tom Cruise, serenaded Mr Bush and the First Lady with I Want You, I Need You, I Love You, and released a CD of his favourite Elvis tracks.
They are expected to pay their respects at the singer’s grave out by the swimming pool, and like other visitors will not be shown the upstairs bedroom and bathroom where Elvis died of heart disease and a drug overdose in 1977."
I hope they have a great time, I loved Graceland.
