putting aside the fact that this is obviously ridiculous, as i think most of us can agree...
but this is the impression i have of britain, these days. super-surveillance. everything is monitored to death. |

ironically enough, I'm not sure that Britain has a very solid commitment to liberty. I'm not sure that any country does, these days.
The problem isn't even the power of the state, so much, as the remoteness of the state. The kings of Anglo Saxon England could demand all manner of service from their subjects, after all, but they couldn't escape them. |
