Borat is getting sued..

Borat the comedian who I intially thought was funny is getting sued right and left by people in the way that he made his recent box office smash sensational movie "Borat".

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770

After reading several stories like this, I kinda side with the people who were unsuspectingly made fools of.

What say you?

If they agreed to be on camera which I assume they did there's really nothing to say. Nothing was done against their will unless their was suspicious editing which I really really doubt. I think he outsmarted them fair and square.

Good - I HATED that film. I thought it would be making fun of people who deserved it (namely right wing americans etc) but instead it just made fun of jewish people, and feminists.
I very nearly walked out of the cinema.

They have to sign a waiver to be in the film. If they signed it, theres really nothing they can do. I personally saw the film and think they're maybe over reacting a bit, it was all in good fun.

Interesting article from American Kazakhs, who do mention that they hope it will be a tourist boon but still are upset over it: http://www.boston.com/news/local/art..._kazakh_laugh/

He didn't do anything illegal, but it certainly seems to be unethical.

Why would you side with nonsense? That's all this is. Like what everyone else said, they signed the waiver, their bad.

This is Ridiculous. You ok with him if he made fun of certain people (mainly right wing since you "HATE") them but you find it offensive when he makes fun of your glorious left wing?? If you watched the film he does make fun of Right wing people too, such as the Rodeo scene.

People who are insulted about this film are ridiculous IMO.

This film and its content is for entertainment purposes and should be taken light heartedly.

THIS IS NOT A DOCUMENTARY.

wasn't he making fun of people who don't like jews by showing how irrational his fear was, making himself look like an idiot I also think the feminist scene made him the idiot I don't think it was at all anti-feminist

I guess I saw the movie differently... as a social commentary. Pointing out our hypocrisy and racism.

Exactly, I'm not sure how that slipped past a few people.

Is this the Ali G 'Borat' or someone else? I haven't opened the link.
I dont think he's ever excluded anyone from being offended.

Yes, it's Ali G. The people in the link are from the Village in Romania, which they used to substitute for Kazakhstan. If anyone in the movie has a right to complain about being duped, it's these people.

I still think the movie is hysterical though.

So they're suing him for exposing the way they really behave and the things they really believe? Typical.

It would be interesting to see the content of those waivers.

I can't wait to see the film. I hate these people who get on their high horses and complain about comedy films 'going too far'. He's making fun of certain groups of people and making fun of himself too. Sit back and accept it for what it is, it's just a comedy film.

These people signed waivers. I think it catches people with prejudices and shows how rediculous they are. And it covers a lot of them.

I love it. hehe.
