i ditto the Doozer.

one of the reasons why i have such an adverse reation to people going on and on about homosexuality being a "sin" or "immoral" is that it contributes to a climate that associates shame and failure to being a homosexual. not only does this cause the homosexual internal torment and feelings of self-loathing (been there, done that), but it also forces some people back into the closet and into heterosexual disguises. and, hey, what better way to prove that you're straight than to get married? in an ideal world, the gay person should be strong enough to be honest and not to implicate someone else in their life of deception, but not everyone is that strong. and many, many people get hurt in the spiral of lies that begin with basic homophobia.

homophobia kills. homophobia destroys lives.
