Anyone read Huxley's Brave New World REVISITED?
What are your thoughts on the book?

It's not so much a fiction novel as it is a collection of essays reflecting today's society. Really quick read, though.

I read the first in high school and LOVED it...I thought it was better than 1984--another that they made us read. I didn't realize there was a second. Worth checking out...

been reading a lot...
And there's a lot of authors mentioning how today's world is a lot more like Brave New World, rather than 1984... not only that, but Huxley's insights happened a lot faster than he anticipated. Huxley predicted that the world population will rise to 5 and 1/5 billion by the time his granddaughter reaches 50... (Today, it's 6 and 1/2 billion)... He also talked about stuff like psychotropic/psychiatric drugs... the effects and consequences of media and advertising... similarities and differences between democracy and fascism. |
