~*~The Kings Angels~*~
Upon your head,
They place a crown,
A septre in your hand,
You wear a cloak of colour gold.
You are regal.
Your story-untold.

You call upon the angels,
To lift you by your feet.
White skin, White feet,
Those pretty little angels,
Live a life for their King.

Sacrificing life is an easy thing for you,
But giving up love for a man like you,
A heroic thing to do.
You fight through love of your homeland,
A precious thing to to keep?
But can you fight to save your true love,
From dying at your feet?

Tugging at your heart,
A frightened woman stands,
Black skin, Black feet,
The perfect little angel,
She's dying at your feet.

Nice poetry, of course, but are you aware of the "Dream Out Loud" forum? This is, technically, where all the poets hang out, and there is tons of poetry there.

I'm not bitching, but I thought I'd let you know about it, in case you weren't aware of it!

"He had lived through an age when men and women with energy and ruthlessness but without much ability or persistence excelled. And even though most of them had gone under, their ignorance had confused Roy, making him wonder whether the things he had striven to learn, and thought of as 'culture,' were irrelevant. Everything was supposed to be the same: commercials, Beethoven's late quartets, pop records, shopfronts, Freud, multi-coloured hair. Greatness, comparison, value, depth: gone, gone, gone. Anything could give some pleasure; he saw that. But not everything provided the sustenance of a deeper understanding." - Hanif Kureishi, Love in a Blue Time

Its cold outside and the streets are busy
Its cold inside and the TV's on
The bed, a mess, the pictures broken
A sliding mess of make-up bashed against a wall
A floor full of dresses no longer....no good
A painful anguish cry hidden beneath a swinging lamp in a corner
Pretty eyes spoilt by the beauty of tears
Surrounded by black, harsh heavy mess
Hands that hide a face full of fear, terror and hurt
A body cruelly scarred by those very hands
A mind thats not thinking
...only empty
Shoes with heels half-kicked into a twist
A window, a net curtain
The soft wind calling her name
She no longer hears herself cry
She is beckoned by the call of the wind
She stands and walks
................
stepping up.......
Eyes closed, no prayer..no thoughts
No looking down, just a happy, contented smile, and shes going home
The past, she yearned for
The present, she was confused in
The future, she no longer needed to know............

Silent TV

Room filled with its light and flickering shadows

not a sound, only interruption of a cat being scared out of a bin.....

and the lid falls.........clunk.......

LOL @ my 'effort'!!!!!!

it's a lot easier to look past such an indiscretion when the poetry is good.
so in this case it's a lot easier to look past the indiscretion. very impressive.

bottom line: U2 rules.

It's a good thing you had this here, because I rarely go into Dream Out Loud. My lit teacher and I had a big shouting match over this poem we are to be writing a paper on. Our class thinks it sucks, so we refuse to write. His defense is that there is something else to it, else it wouldn't be in a book. So I printed yours out (I hope you don't mind) and showed it to him. We analyzed it a little in class and everybody liked it. He asked who the author was and I said, "Bono-vox, duh! Haven't you seen this poem before? There are so many literary elements in it, it SHOULD be in a book." He was so angry with me, but it proved the point. So, you are quite the well know poet in Mendota Hts, MN...if you care...if you're mad at me for stealing it I apologize in advance.
