Several of my colleagues have had the experience here of having a procedure at the hospital and having a facilities charge of exactly the same amount as the procedure. So for example, if the procedure costs $300, they got billed an additional $300 for the use of the facility. If the procedure costs $3,000, they were charged an additional $3,000 for the use of the facility. Instead of there being one standard charge per hour for the use of the facility, they just double-charge you for the cost of the procedure. It's ridiculous and though it's different from what this article describes, it's got me thinking that people here might have a case as well.
 
And I thought it was expensive when I went to see an Australian doctor while I was ill last month ...
