Today Canada and people around the world are commerating the 25th anniversary of Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope which began on this day in St. John's, Newfoundland. He had hoped to raise 1 dollar for every Canadian to go to cancer research. This ordinary guy with an artificial leg ran a marathon a day across Canada's rugged countryside to achieve this goal. Tragically, Terry succumbed to cancer and stopped his run in Thunder Bay, Ontario. But his memory and dream have lived on and people have raised over 360 million dollars worldwide for cancer research in the name of Terry Fox.

Recently, Terry was ranked the 2nd greatest Canadian ever in a television series. He was an incredible young man with great vision and spirit. His dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten by Canadians and others affected by this horrible disease.

Thank you Terry.
