Cruz made a huge strategic error by blaming the tone Trump's rallies as the cause of yesterday's fracas. (I know many in here would agree with him). It's not going to help Cruz at all.

You still defend his tone?

For being right? Look, Trump being a cunt is not an excuse for violence. But it doesn't help, either.

There WILL be violence at one of his rallies the likes of which we haven't seen in this country since the 60s. It's not a question of if. It's a question of when. His divisive, xenophobic rhetoric is fanning the flames on both sides, and somebody is going to do something stupid. It's already happening. It will continue, and it will get worse.

The Nazi references are disappointing.

About Trump? Why? They're not references to him just being evil. His rhetoric is very similar to that of Adolph Hitler in the 1920s. It's a very fair comparison. That doesn't mean he's going to be committing genocide and be like WW2/Holocaust Hitler.

Don't worry. He also blamed Obama.

The people that show up and start heckling, and flipping people off to instigate trouble are the responsible party. When people show up and heckle Obama and get physical they are responsible for what happens to them. Calling Obama a baby killer because he supports abortion does not justify the persons behavior.

The Nazi references are disappointing.

they serve a purpose, let's us know the reasoning capacity of those using them

if you learned this information through an educational system, they failed you

I agree, he's more Mussolini.

of course you are right,

Don't worry. He also blamed Obama.

the blame really lies with these (those) people coming to the rallies for the purpose of causing trouble, mostly the worthless OWS types that show up at Bernie rallies where they are not bothered by tea-party types or Trump, Cruz supporters

Those who don't know their history are disappointing.
I think the better term is ignorant, but it seems many want to contort history to serve their arguments

But can we agree on the overall fascist tone?

sure, if people make change the definitions to further their positions, this is the way you do it

You're right. Rallying up the poor lower and middle class whites who are still struggling economically around xenophobic rants is absolutely nothing like Germany in the 30s

true, America 2016 and post WWI Germany, these are silly comparisons for weak minded people
I know my history and that's why I hate nationalism.

I am not familiar with your history, are you a failed dictator or something?

Ultimately, I agree with this in general. I think the people that caused trouble at this rally were quite likely the sort who'd act like obnoxious idiots no matter where they were.

That said, however, considering the inflammatory nature of Trump's rhetoric, I think it's entirely fair to, at the very least, acknowledge that he's certainly not helping or adding anything good to the political discourse in this country with the crap he spouts. People who are ignorant, racist, sexist, xenophobic, etc. do NOT need someone legitimizing their backwards views and encouraging them.

Plus, given the way the right constantly insists that other groups of people need to speak out against those that have more extremist views, well...turnabout's fair play. Let's see the right take that personal responsibility they harp on so much about for THEIR more extreme elements.

What the fuck absolves Trump and his campaign for responsibility? Is it just the stereotype that 'protesters' are scum and get what they deserve? Are some of them obnoxious? Probably, I dunno. Maybe they should stay in their free speech zone and not bother the nice people.

If you ask me, the Occupy crowd's real failure was in not organising for a long campaign, so to speak. Their concerns, if you think those aren't shared by a shit ton of people all over America and the world, you're in la la land. Their method was to be ineffectual, and be crushed, and nobody respects losers, ironically since the founder of the nominal American faith was the ultimate loser. He lost it all.

And yes, the parallel with Mussolini might be a little more accurate, where Trump is concerned. That is hardly anything to be proud of. That's like grasping for a lead weight in a stormy sea.

The protester who rushed the stage at a Donald rally yesterday, and got the Secret Service all excited...

Thomas DiMassimo, 22, of Fairborn, Ohio. Google says Little Tommy has a proud history of speaking truth to power :cute:

You have a situation right now in America that is extremely flammable.

Poor, uneducated whites in middle America have not seen any recovery from the recession. They're angry and feel they've been forgotten about.

Then you toss in the black lives matter protest movement. We all know the issues that they're angry over.

Mix it all up with some divisive, racist rhetoric that has at times encouraged violence and you have a situation that's simply waiting to blow up.

I fear for what Cleveland could be like.

What I found fascinating yet sadly predictable were the cries of fascism! from the reactionary sides of politics towards the protesters, not to mention this obsession with 'free speech,' whatever that term even means anymore.

I tend to agree, and you could easily imagine Trump plastering one of his skyscrapers/casinos with an LED screen that displays an image of his face with the word 'yes' repeated throughout.
