Remind me to look at this again tomorrow. Fuck that's funny.

Though - and I'm kind of serious when I say this - the ALP not going back to including the 'u' makes me hate them and never want to vote for them again. It is extremely annoying and I hate writing it.

There's one virtue to Labor keeping out the 'u'; nobody is ever in any doubt about what country or what party you're discussing. I mean, it's obviously not UK Labour.

And there are worse things a movement could retain in the name of modernity. Hello, eugenics.

I'm not a great fan although I acknowledge that he is the furthest left a prominent presidential hopeful can realistically get at this point in time.

He's a fairly standard social democrat who'd fit quite comfortably on the left faction of the Labor party here.

He might seem an extremist relative to the others, but it's more so the mainstream's gradual drift to the right.

The most amazing thing about him being that he's still alive and just dropped out of the presidential race after getting less than one percent in the Iowa democratic caucus.

As we've seen in here; both extremes have folks living in a bubble. The Trump bubble was burst last night. The Sanders bubble I think still has enough to cling onto.

My prediction: Trump will lose another state, throw a tantrum and drop out. His minions will whine "media bias", stay home, and as many have said hand Clinton an easy victory.

I generally agreed with it. There are several topics on which Sanders is particularly poor at.

I really don't understand all the glee about Trump being a loser (well, ok, I do, he's an unbearable oaf) without acknowledgment that Ted Cruz is far, far worse. He's a true believer.

But I guess none of that matters now that the powers that be have annointed Rubio, who will look like a geeky 3rd grader debating Hillary Clinton.

The most substantial claim is that Bernie Sanders has some fans on the Internet who are assholes. Which puts him in exclusive company with literally everything. The same thinkfluencers who argue that Bernie Sanders needs to take personal responsibility for people he's never met being rude to journalists on the Internet (who are already berated and ridiculed by fans of everything else) are also filling column inches by doing the human-dignity equivalent of reaching a whole arm through a buzzing garbage disposal to latch onto yet another slime-slicked take festering in the U-bend and explaining why Hillary Clinton does not need to explain anything further. She doesn't need to justify that Iraq War vote again, or the destabilization of Libya, or that desire to go hog wild in Syria, or that 1990s support for welfare reform that hit women hardest, or those 1990s tough-on-crime policies she endorsed along with private prisons, or those speaking fees at Goldman Sachs or that opposition to reinstating Glass-Steagall.

[...]

This is the dim path where a career pro-gay-rights feminist looms as a misogynist and an enemy to identity politics because some people with egg avatars sent some tweets. Where a candidate who personally earned millions in speeches and whose campaigns were significantly funded by Wall Street firms that nearly broke the world is equivalent to the candidate whose whole campaign opposes them because, apparently, he took money from a nurses' union. Where a legitimate candidate of the working class will be hammered over and over in an authenticity battle with a campaign that weekly releases some "How do you do, fellow kids?" embarrassment and whose Instagram manager is a woman with her own HBO series. Where the real progressive candidate has already pledged not to raise any middle-class taxes and once called people on welfare deadbeats.

Not for nothing, but the idea that in the year 2016 we’re deciding who gets to run for the most powerful position in the western world by having people stand in groups in a gym, and/or folded slips of paper is fucking frightening.

I though that the substantial claim against Bernie Sanders is that his ideas bend too far to the left for some of his own party, let alone that any Republican in Congress will ever vote for anything he puts forward?

That's pretty much the gist of it. But alas, some will spin anything to match their argument.
