I dont think so. Reason being.. most people are complaining that they want their status back. And they cant have a 'special status' AND their regular status at the same time. the vb board will not allow it.

Can Premium Members choose their own statuses? I know that vBulletin boards have the option. I choose my own status on a Windows XP board I semi-frequent. Just an idea...
