I went to Athens, New York, and Paris today! :hyper: :cute:

well ok, it was Athens, New York, and Paris...TEXAS! :sexywink:

My parents came up to visit for Easter, and just for fun we drove around the beautiful Texas countryside, after seeing an article in this month's Texas Monthly Magazine, we decided to make the trek. It was probably about a 300 mile round trip from Dallas.

We started off the morning with breakfast here in Dallas....Krispy Kreme donuts

next stop Athens

New York (population 12! )

After New York, the next stop was the town of Grand Saline...an interesting little town that is built on top of a natural salt dome. Morton Salt also has a factory and salt mine there.

mmmm SALT! :sexywink:

btw, the guy in the background in the blue shirt is my dad

Then on to Canton, TX...the town is famous for their first Monday trade shows (which is like a giant flea market). These two cows are outside the Dairy Museum there. The cows names are Buttercup and Cream Puff :cute:

and the final destination, Paris - complete with the Eifel Tower, Texas style! :cute:

some of the pics are dark

yeah I know, sorry about that...I'm still trying to get used to some of the settings on my digital camera...this morning it was kinda overcast, with some scattered showers, which is probably why some of them look dark, and then in the afternoon it was clear, with bright sun, so if I was in the shade or facing away from the sun they look dark too. :|

glad you like the pics :cute:

I've been to London, Paris, Baghdad, Cairo, Lebanon, Glasgow, and Versailles.

Kentucky.

Almost all pronounced weirdly.

There's also Monkey's Eyebrow, Rabbit Hash, Black Gnat, Do Stop, Lickskillet, Big Bone Lick, Sugartit, Oddville, Dog Walk, Possum Trot, and Hot Spot.

btw, here's a brief little history of the town of Grand Saline:

Much of the town grew from a salt works established in 1845. Parts of the community sit atop a huge salt dome. The salt dome under the city is about 1.5 miles across and some 16,000 feet thick; it could supply the world's need for salt for 20,000 years. The Morton Salt Company for many years got (at least some) of it?s "when it rains it pours" salt from the Grand Saline mine. The town also has the distinction of being the home of two local gentlemen who once, a great number of years ago, actually roped an eagle. Cowboys were obviously bored during those formative years.

Abel don't lick that! You don't know where your tongue has been!

There's a Paris, Kentucky, and a London, Kentucky. It always throws me for a loop when someone here mentions that they're going to Paris.

:scream:
I'm sick of Kentucky!

and Paris. France. Alas, the closest I've gotten to Paris is Paris, Ontario (Canada). There's also London, a Berlin, Athens, and Vienna.
