A friend of mine just sent me a set of lyrics for what he says to be the first up coming single off the new U2 Album. The lyrics are for the song "Xanax and Wine".

"Xanax and Wine"

Words slither by
A facade behind shivering lips
Moments shattered
slipping through raped finger tips

A world in full motion
An uneasy tension in ones hues
I can't shake this paranoia
I've got social phobic blues

Love, all my troubles are sailing
Baby, I'm floating on the Rhine
High, drifting away my worries
Higher, on a dream of Xanax and Wine

Awaken by reality
God's grace stabbing my side
Facing days that aren't wanted
Forced to walk distance with a broken stride

Please lover, don't you love me
Come on lover, I've need one last hit
I'm a broken man with broken fantasies
living a life that can't surmise my submit

Troubles, all my love is sailing
Brother, I'm floating on the Rhine
High, drifting away from my humanity
Higher, on a dream of Xanax and Wine

Bastard son of addiction
living in a nightmare, who's dreams are reality
Every voice is a pounding headache
every thought is just a little more cloudy

A world of nothing
A man nothing but his time
Addition, no humanity
An ending on a trip of Xanax and Wine

by Bono / The Edge

I hope no one takes this to any extremes but I miss read the email my friend had sent me and that what he meant was that these are his take on the lyrics inspired by the rumored U2 song title. So no, they are not the real deal or a joke just a what if.

And I was so hoping something had finally leaked ...

guarentee you that the first single for the follow up to atyclb will not be some trippy tune about taking drugs and drinkin wine.:|

Is Xanax a drug? I sure hope they don't take drugs. :(

No, I think it's the name of a wrestler.......hence the Ready to Rumble title of the album.

My guess that the song is about suicide and Michael Hutchison, but is basically the same mix as Stuck in a Moment. (Plus, I do know that Michael died from hanging himself, but using mixing the two means attempting to end ones life.)
