the rules are pretty easy. this is for worst song U2 survivor. this means you vote OFF your FAVOURITE song. the goal here is to see what is the least-liked U2 song for each album, and narrow it down to least-liked song ever.

ROUND SIX (OCTOBER):
- i threw a brick through a window
- with a shout
- stranger in a strange land
- scarlet
- is that all?

you are to vote based on the studio version of that particular song. do not vote based on how it sounds live or how it sounded remixed.

timing of the poll: there are so many rounds, it really makes sense to keep each individual round as a timed ONE day poll. when we get to the end of each round, the final poll will last two days, to give more people a chance to vote.

ties will be broken by eliminating both songs from the poll UNLESS we are in the top five. even if there are three tied, all three will be eliminated. any more of a tie (four-way tie, etc.), then we will have a tiebreaker round.

also, when we get down to the final round (the winner of each previous round going against each other), these polls will last two days. the same tiebreaking rules apply.

remember, vote for what you consider to be the strongest song, or your favourite. this competition is to determine the WORST U2 song.

Scarlet, just, over I Threw A Brick.

Surprised Scarlet's lingering when October went so fast.

Scarlet....... yet again

Seems like it's just you and I voting for it.

I really don't understand that. Why are people so keen on October but basically ignoring Scarlet? They're two rather similar songs - and, let's face it, musically, Scarlet's a whole lot more interesting.

you are right.

I think Scarlet is a stunning bit of music. promise that you'll keep voting for it. i would hate to see this gem as a finalist in the 'worst' U2 song competition...........

I would be appalled if Scarlet came last. It would show massive inconsistency on behalf of Interference voters. Again I ask - why did October go so fast and Scarlet is still lingering?

Uh, no, other way around. October is musically much more interesting than Scarlet. Although I love scarlet. I will keep voting for With A Shout until it's gone and then it will be a tossup between I Threw and Scarlet.

Well I think what signifies the last of the October songs is the lack of good lyrics. The music is great though.

I just need to gloat and I figure timothius will see this thread:

Who picked the Hurricanes to win 1-12? Yeah, that'd be me.

Who won 1-12 last night? Well, read the score:

Wellington 22-10 Auckland

AND THE GAME WAS IN AUCKLAND!

Ooooh, it feels SO GOOD. We're into the semis now!

October is just Edge on piano. Scarlet's got the whole band. I don't see how October's more interesting musically than Scarlet. It's got the edge lyrically, but otherwise, no.

And even if October is better than Scarlet, they are both rather similar songs and I don't understand why so few are voting for Scarlet.

I don't know why you say they're so similar. I really don't think they are. October is very intense and emotional in a painful kind of way, whereas Scarlet is more mellow and emotional in an uplifting kind of way. And I still think the music, instruments aside, of October is slightly more complex, and better. To each his own.

With a shout.

But I'm kind of meh about all of these songs equally so I don't care what goes next.
