I believe Bono played it b/c he was the guy who originally came up with the song. He's done it in the past -- wrote "Boomerang" on keyboards which the band eventually amplified.

It was played every show for the first month of the tour, but then it dropped off. It didn't appear a whole lot in Europe and didn't make the third leg. It appeared a total of 29 times and was last played on 22 August 2001 in London.

i saw some pics of him at one particular show playing a piano and it was labeled, by a fansite as him playing "sweetest thing", and i wasnt sure if that was true, or he just did it at the one show or if that was an every performance of the song occasion... and edge did it normally.
