Is it not high time to hear those wistful opening pipes on the bagpipes?

Just picture it... rolling highlands and a guy in a kilt piping it away. I found a trance cover that almost sounds like bagpipes, but it isn't quite. Anyone have bagpipes and recording equipment?

God!!!!!!! This thread is stupid!

No it isn't. Just picture it. It would be so utterly cool. I'm not joking. This is a serious thread.

i'm not really hungry actually.

Now I want to play the bagpipes.

I'm with you skeek. There are several pipe bands around here. I love 'em.
Rock songs that have featured pipes often chart well, so we're not alone. They can either rouse or lament. You just need a plenty of space.
as always **cass polishes her U2 covers police badge** it could be done, but it must be done well....or else

PS contributing to this mood I think is the fact i have just discovered the band Travis. What a nice bunch of Scotsmen they seem to be.

you no doubt are just kidding. Embarrassingly enough, I'm not.

Despite the levity displayed in this thread, I'm actually not kidding.

And yeah Travis seem to be pretty cool... I like that Sing song.

Bagpipes are tame.

I'm currently recording a version with the Accordion doing the intro music.

I'm also looking to get a group of fourth graders together to do the intro on those cheap plastic recorders.

Next up is a funky remix with kazoos.

U know, the moment i saw that thread title i thought 'oh gawd, the proclaimers covered it didnt thay'

*shoots himself*

Skeek - go buy Travis' "The Man Who" and "The Invisible Band."

Now. Trust me.

No one can make bagpipes rock like AC/DC!! I'm serious, check out... It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll

If you think it's easy doin' one night stands
Try playin' in a rock roll band

i'd like to hear this trance cover you mentioned, sKeeK. the idea sounds very promising.

and since this is also turning into the Travis appreciation thread, i'd like to add that i just discovered them myself ... and (surprisingly) they have a lot of good stuff! i've been listening to their last 2 albums for the last 2 weeks and they're really growing on me. invite Travis into your life.

id rather see or hear jonny greenwood distort the song using a zylophone or whatever it is he uses on pyramid song and national anthem.

But will we then understand what they are singing?

Eh want tae run
i want tae hide
i want tae tear doon eh walls
that hauld me inside
i want tae reach oot
ain tooch eh flame
whaur eh streets hae nae name

i want tae feel sunlecht on mah face
i see eh doost clood disappear
withit a trace
i want tae tak' shelter
fae eh poison rain
whaur eh streets hae nae name

whaur eh streets hae nae name
whaur eh streets hae nae name
we're still buildin'
then burnin' doon loove
burnin' doon loove
ain when eh go there
i go thaur wi' ye
it's aw eh can dae

the city's aflood
ain uir loove turns tae rust
we're beaten an' bloon by eh wind
trampled in dust
i'll shaw ye a place high on a desert plain
whaur eh streets hae nae name

whaur eh streets hae nae name
whaur eh streets hae nae name
we're still building then
burnin' doon loove
burnin' doon loove
ain when eh go there
i go thaur wi' ye it's aw eh can dae

oor loove turns tae rust
we're beaten an' bloon by eh wind
bloon by eh wind
oh, an' eh see loove
see uir loove turn tae rust
we're beaten an' bloon by eh wind
bloon by eh wind oh,
when eh go there
i go thaur wi' ye
it's aw eh can dae
