Where and when have you seen U2 live?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
5-16-97 Clemson
11-21-97 New Orleans
5-1-01 Cleveland
5-31-01 Detroit

The Detroit show was the weakest out of all I've seen. I disliked the venue, I was jetlagged from arriving that morning from Ireland, and I was upset that I was missing Echo & the Bunnymen in Dublin that night. Still loved every second of it. :)

Elevation Tour:

Chicago 5-15-01 (The return of "Out of Control" show)
Chicago 5-16-01 (The ZooTV flashback show -- GA- 10 feet from the Edge!)
Chicago 10-15-01 (Just your average wonderful u2 show)

(Hoping for some European shows this time around  )

Funny I don't feel old, and I hope that when "YOU"RE OLD" like me you can still go to a U2 show! Wonder if Bono feels old? (We're the same age)

The memories from these shows were worth every penny I ever spent on them, and then some. They keep touring...I keep going.

AA

Wow. You've been to all of the shows I've been to and then some.

Popmart:
May 31, 1997 - East Rutherford, NJ @ Giants Stadium (The music sounded great but I couldn't see a thing except the big screen cause I was on the absolute last row on the floor. I made sure that would change for the next tour and it did.)

Elevation:
June 17, 2001 - New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden (In the heart right by the tip. Within spitting distance)
June 22, 2001 - East Rutherford, NJ @ Continental Airlines Arena (second row by center court)
October 24, 2001 - New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden (second row by center court)

And if I could have gotten out of work we would have both been at the show this past Monday in Brooklyn.

Elevation Tour - 4/20/01 - Compaq Center, San Jose, CA
The BEST show I've ever seen!! They played Kite for the first time, and the debut of Stay in the US of A. I was never so high after a show...without any substance to help.
Elevation Tour - 11/20/01 - Arco Arena, Sacramento, CA
One of the most emotional shows I've been to. 9/11 touch was moving.

I love this band live.

I was at the 2 Oakland shows as well, the 2nd night was very oddly under-attended, its like the demand was there for the first one but no one gave a crap about the 2nd. Oasis was a great opener though.

I was at the opening of Elevation and those opening nights are odd, that was easily the worst U2 show Ive ever seen. Not as in bad, but it was the weakest out of the ones Ive seen.

ZooTV - Camp Randall Stadium - Madison WI - Sept. 13, 1992 - sold out
> 63,000 in attendance, still the largest crowd ever to see a concert in the state of Wisconsin

PopMart - Camp Randall Stadium - Madison WI - June 25, 1997
> approx 45,000 in attendance
I was at both these shows too. Wasn't it strange to see the upper deck so empty in '97? For the '92 show I got tix and backstage hospitality passes from PM. Hospitality was set up in the back of the fieldhouse. Needless to say we roamed around inside and found that U2 were set up in the front. I walked out of the bathroom and Edge was standing right there.

Other important shows were the ones I saw/worked in Foxboro in '92. A fellow fan invited me out to work the shows...which meant setting up, numbering and breaking down the chairs. In return I got to see all the shows free and get backstage, etc.

I've been a fan since '81, but didn't get to see U2 live until '87 at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago on the 30th...I see this was someone else's first show too. I can't really remember all the other shows I've seen, but most of those up in the Great Lakes area and on this last tour...Sunrise, FL and Maimi as well as those up North. I definitely plan to be in Miami for the start of this tour too.

havent seen U2 live yet :(

stress the word YET! MIAMI '05 Here i come!

Yes I am indeed a Sunderland fan, I went over (I live in Norway) last weekend to see The Lads beat Ipswich 2-0, We're on The Way to The Premier!

My ultimate SAFC/U2 dream is to see U2 play at Stadium of Light, that would be class.

Pop mart Tour Santiago, Chile 11 February 1998

I still don´t understand why they decided to release Pop Mart Mexico City 1997 :eyebrow: average performance, Bono was horrible :(
Santiago was clearly better for all collectors, including me !!!

Sadly I´m afraid they won´t come to Chile again   :(

Hello Everyone,
I have been a lurker for a while now but I figured I'd introduce myself here with a response to this post. This is why I love this band:

Joshua Tree Tour
12/3/87 Miami, FL Orange Bowl (In high school and was amazed by my first live U2 show. Hooked!)

Zoo TV
2/29/92 Lakeland, FL Lakeland Arena (Thanks Propaganda since I learned about fan club ticketing. Absolutely blown away with information overload at this first Zoo TV show. It took the next couple of shows to absorb the sensory overload that was ZOO TV)

3/1/92 Miami, FL Miami Arena (Met Paul McGinnis because he came out and watched a good portion of the show next to me. Frankly at the time I wasn't as familiar with him but my friend was very excited)

3/5/92 Atlanta, GA The Omni (First ever road trip out of state for any concert. It gets crazy - Read on!)

ZooTV Outside Broadcast
8/15/92 Washington, DC RFK Stadium (First ever backstage tour. Thanks Cellar Door Concerts. Wasn't impressed. Didn't meet the band and it seemed like a bunch of people just sitting around)

8/16/92 Washington, DC RFK Stadium (Worst seats ever at a U2 show. Rear Field seats. Couldn't hardly see a thing even from the top of my chair. I was jealous of my friend who ventured all the way up front for half of the show)

10/3/92 Miami, FL Joe Robbie Stadium (Waited for hours by the gate to the backstage area but it certainly paid off since I met Bono for the first time)

10/10/92 Tampa, FL Tampa Stadium (First time I ever procured so many seats. I brought about 20 friends and we all sat up front on the field. They all wanted to see why I have gone so crazy and many have fallen victim to U2's spell since they witnessed that show.)

11/14/92 Anaheim, CA Anaheim Stadium (First time I ever cried (tears of joy) at a concert. What a year it was and it was ending. I have vowed to see at least the first or last show of every US U2 tour and you'll see I have so far and will definitely catch the first number of shows since it will take place in my hometown this coming March).

POPMart
4/25/97 Las Vegas, NV Sam Boyd Stadium (Kept my vow of first or last U2 show of a US U2 tour. First time to Vegas as an adult. What an experience!)

5/16/97 Clemson, SC Memorial Stadium (Major road trip 4 car caravan. Clue: just follow the Orange tiger claws to the stadium)

6/25/97 Madison, WI Camp Randall Stadium (Paid a surprise visit to my grandparents and they thought it was just to see them. Ha! First show of a mini midwest roadtrip by myself)

6/27/97 Chicago, IL Soldier Field
6/28/97 Chicago, IL Soldier Field
6/29/97 Chicago, IL Soldier Field (Combined comments for all 3 shows - I stayed at the same hotel as the band, but ended up hanging out on the sidewalk out front almost the whole time. The room was just a bathroom break! Very memorable experience in Chicago since I met the band on numerous occasions)

8/18/97 Nuremburg, Germany (I have now officially gone international! My family thinks I have really gone crazy now but I did meet them in Germany for a quick tour before heading to the next stop)

8/22/97 London, UK Wembley Stadium
8/23/97 London, UK Wembley Stadium (Again I stayed at a hotel next to the stadium but hardly spent time there. First time I experienced General Admission field seating. We basically slept by the entrance gates to field to get up front)

11/10/97 Tampa, FL Houlihans Stadium (Got a ticket upgrade the day of the show to the front row.)

11/12/97 Jacksonville, FL Municipal Stadium (Must be the most uneventful on the tour because I don't remember a thing)

11/14/97 Miami, FL Pro Player Stadium (First time I experienced tickets in the stands rather than the field. I was happy for a different perspective)

Elevation Tour
3/24/01 Sunrise, FL National Car Rental Center
3/26/01 Sunrise, FL National Car Rental Center (New millenium, new tour can't go crazy and see so many shows this time since I am getting older and have more responsibilities. I have to say it was fun spending the week prior in front of the Miami Arena faintly listening to rehearsals. Inside the heart for these shows. Unbelievable.

5/15/01 Chicago, IL United Center (I tried a good reserved lower leve seat and really enjoyed that view too)

10/30/01 Providence, RI Dunkin Donuts Center
10/31/01 Providence, RI Dunkin Donuts Center (One night my ticket in the stands didn't exist and they tried to give me a seat far away in the stands for a replacement. I protested and then was escorted to floor and the security helped me get close to the outside tip of the heart. Another good view. I am beginning to realize that the stage designers are making the seating very fair from many perspectives. Very emotional shows not too long after 9/11)

12/1/01 Tampa, FL Ice Palace Arena (Tour is nearing an end again getting emotional)

12/2/01 Miami, FL American Airlines Arena (Excellent show. Kept my promise of first or last show.)

2005 Tour
3/1/05 I WILL BE THERE

What a day of thanks U2. Happy Thanksgiving and now its time to get ready for turkey.

Again, I am happy to be part of the U2 community.
Thanks,
Jon
