I think, in a lot of weird ways, it reminds me more of "Desire" than anything from the Boy-War days.

To be honest, the first song that came to mind was "I Will Follow"

Kind of like a mix of "Seconds" and "Two Hearts Beat as One"

references to 'stories for boys'?well,i'll give it a try:

1.stories for boys..../...boys play rock n' roll
2.hello-bono shouts hello 6 times both in SFB and Vertigo
3.place-there's a place i go and i am far away/place called vertigo
4.crawl/kneel
5.maybe the length of the song? 3:04/3:11

maybe i'm wrong.....

It reminds me of "I Will Follow" and HMTHKMKM, but I find it interesting that there is not too much agreement between everyone who has answered this question. I think that's a good thing.

Ditto. Although I'm sure I couldn't come up with the food reference.

You know, who was it a band member or a producer? In describing the Edge's sound on Beautiful Day, before the song was released, they said that it was "classic coke Edge." I can't remember who said it, but THAT is the perfect expression.
