What makes U2 unique?

Finally - and maybe I'm being completely naieve here - but I really believe that they still want our approval on their music. Not just so we'll go out and buy their records, but because they really want to know that they've connected with us; that the music means something to us. Because it still means so much to them.

I read in an interview (I think) that the band made the pizza guy come into the studio and listen to songs during the recording of HTDAAB. They must have wanted his approval. Most bands wouldn't even order pizza in the first place, much less let an average civillian have an exclusive first listen to new material - which is the best way to find out what the fans will like. I think, too, that they do care about what we want. At least that's the point I was trying to make in my semi-rambling paragraph.
