Was that really vodka Bono was drinking at the grammys?

When I first saw this quote I figured that Bono was joking but a lot of media conglomerates are reporting his statement as truth. Do you think they were really drinking vodka straight out of water bottles at the grammys? Would that signal an alocohl problem?

been drinking vodka during the show and on stage.

The U2 frontman had made rambling speeches while accepting four gongs,
and even rudely cut off bandmate The Edge, saying he was just "the guitarist".

In the interview room, Bono said: "Sorry to be going on like this. You know
those little bottles of water we were drinking on stage? They were vodka.
"Sorry about the lecture. You win a few Grammys, you think you're very
interesting."

But he must have still been feeling the effects of the booze backstage because
he couldn't stop himself from rambling on.

Well Bono is famous for rambling on, and so what if they were drinking vodka all night long. The whole thing about cutting off Edge was a joke and not "rude"

This is just another foolish attempt to make famous people look bad. Although I dont like the fact that Bono needs to be shitfaced on National TV(like he did during the '94 "F-up the mainstream" speech). I doubt that he was drinking vodka from the bottle. And if he was, who cares. This is the same media that misinterpreted U2 on RAH and POP and ultimately crucified what was a great album and an interesting attempt at experimentation , respectively.

These are rag-mags that thrive on gossip. Fuck 'em!
