Unexpected Larry sighting

This would probably be best in PLEBA, but I refuse to post there...

Anyway, I was at a friend's house last night, and we were messing around and watching tv. We happened to stumble across some boxing on Showtime that looked like it was being broadcast from some local community college gymnasium. This was the boxing equivalent to USA's Up All Night movie show. We stopped on the show because some Bulgarian dude that looked like he was about 50 was boxing, and we had to see if the guy could fight. After he got beat down, the main event had a guy named Wayne McCullough from Belfast going against a guy from S. Africa. McCullough may be a folk hero or something in Ireland, but I assumed that he was a nobody, based on the show quality and arena. I'm not a boxing fan, so don't bite my head off if your offended. So anyway, before he goes to the ring, the camera shows him in a tunnel. And who happens to be standing right behind him but Larry Mullen jr. I about flipped. The camera stayed on them for about a minute before he entered the arena, and during that time, he and Larry exchanged some fight advice, I'm sure. Then, when he left the tunnel, Larry was in his entourage that escorted him to the ring. I don't think anyone in the place knew who he was. If only Larry would have been the guy treating cuts, that would have made my day, but it was still cool. So if anyone sees a show called Shobox coming up on Showtime in the near future, check to see if Wayne McCullough is the main event, and you'll see Larry in a slightly different role.

Ooh...That's pretty nifty!

What do you have against PLEBA? We're all perfectly harmless!

It's primarily the fact that I feel like a stalker for even venturing into that forum. And a male one at that.

Of course, that fear is based on a stereotypical, blanket generalization that is not representative of the vast majority of users. Right?

Wayne McCullough: My beautiful day

Despite an Olympic medal from the Barcelona Games, a WBC Bantamweight
Title belt never lost in the ring and an outstanding pro record,
SecondsOut columnist Wayne McCullough somehow remains modest, even
bashful, whenever the subject about writing about himself is
broached. Fortunately, the Pocket Rocket agreed to set down his most
intimate thoughts and feelings about his emotional return to British
Boxing last weekend. Here is a real treat for SO.com readers

By Wayne McCullough: The music was loud, the fans were deafening and
the atmosphere was electric. I could hardly believe it was happening.
Almost two years since I had been banned from fighting in Britain,
here I was standing at the dressing room door, waiting to enter a
British ring.

I was anxious, not nervous. I had been waiting for this moment for
such a long time. U2's "Beautiful Day" was blasting through the arena.
Larry Mullen (the drummer from U2) walked to the ring with my team.
He had flown over from Dublin to be at the fight and having his
support meant a great deal to me. In fact, the support that I have
had over the past two years from around the world has been tremendous
and at that moment all I could think of was how excited I was to be
fighting with a British Boxing Board of Control license again.

Oh, y'know, down in Pleba, we like boys! So it's ok if you visit us!
