rules--1.know more than 23 songs (combos or medleys count as one) 2. give reasons why you made the selection 3. have fun (it's only pretend, unfortunately).

here is my ultimate setlist--
1.'elevation'-good high energy rocker!
2. 'new york'-very emotional and timely.
3.'the fly'-'exit'-interesting fit.
4. 'summer rain'/'silver and gold'-they can actually work in together.
5. 'wild horses'-i love the soaring in this song.
6. 'with or without u'-acoustic with bongos
7.'when i look at world'-love to hear live.
8. 'kite'-with long improv. jam in the middle
9. 'baby face'-good crowd sing-along
10. 'falling at your feet'/'wild honey'-use your imagination-it would be great! (i don't think daniel lanois would mind at all)
11. 'peace'/ 'mlk'-fits the mood right now
12. 'ultra violet love'-fantastic live!
13. 'demo'- have 2 or 3 new demos to rotate at different cities. the crowd would go wild.
14. 'grace'/'stateless'-perfect together
15. 'north and south of the river'/'promenade'-bono would have an emotional field day.
16. 'acrobat'/ 'seconds'-edge would love this.
17. 'stay'/satellite'/'always forever now'-would be a great mellow combo.
18. 'lemon'-with bono in his natural voice and acoustic.
19. 'the first time'-give it full production
20. 'some days are better'/'heartland'-good songs for bass player.
21. 'grace'/'stateless'-it doesn't get any better than this.
22. 'instrumental jam'-total improv-bono walks off stage for a few minutes then returns to jam on the guitar with the boys.this rests up his voice for the final song.
23. 'walk on'-it can be no other way!

Ahhhh, the setlist topic. Pops up at the beginning of every new tour leg...

This is my take balanced between what I would like and what is likely...

1. elevation (they will keep it as the opener)
2. beautiful day (they always do new material for a couple songs before doing an older tune, this tour is no exception)
3. gone into mofo (this would really rock!)
4. end of the world (replace bull fight will something else, it's getting tired...)
5. I still haven't found... (they haven't played it much lately, might be nice here)
6. sunday bloody sunday into New York (that could be powerful!)
7. sweetest thing (lighten the mood a bit)
8. staring at the sun (acoustic)
9. stuck in a moment (acoustic)
10. stay (acoustic)
11. Running to stand still (and put the harmonica solo in!)
12. Bad
13. Please (surprise everyone instead of following Bad with streets and then...)
14. Streets (please into streets is so cool...)
15. Pride (for a crowd pleaser...)
16. Even better than the real thing or mysterious ways
17. Fly (great first set closer...)
-------------
Skip Bullet and go to something slower, maybe...

18. With or without you
19. One
20. Kite (put one more new song near the end of the show...walk on is all by itself, and gives the last part of some of the shows a greatest hits only feel)
21. acrobat (would be a surprise, but rockin' enough to deserve a shot...)
-------------
Second Encore:
22.First verse of Peace on Earth into Walk On (this must close the show...)

notes: Rotate wild honey with sweetest thing, desire with stay, new years day with I still haven't found..., and for goodness sake get a good cover in every now and then! Try Everybody Hurts...

I like the inclusion of Mofo, tkramer! I think that would be a pretty bold move on U2's part, not to mention it's a rocking song!

Come to think of it, I like your entire setlist. Nice job!

They really need to start playing One Tree Hill live again... What a great song

All I Want Is You
Bad-Wild Horses-40
Streets
Pride

Encore:

POE-Walk On

that's 22 songs(normal)

12 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm too lazy to come up with a setlist, so I'm just going to bitch and whine and hope they play some songs from POP when I see them.

-The Shitty Beatles? Are they any good?

-They suck!

-So it's not just a clever name...

My perfect setlist for the 3rd Leg Elevation Tour in light of the recent terrorist events:

1. Influx/Elevation - There can be no other Elevation Tour opener
2. Until the End of the World - Carries the energy of Elevation better than BD, and it starts exploring some important themes
3. Last Night On Earth - Makes a comeback to carry the momentum of UTEOTW and explore ideas related to the tragedies
4. Gone - Fits perfectly after LNOE and once again carries the energy and momentum and overall 'theme'
*Bono Speech* - A long speech on the tragedy and more
5. October / New York - Perfect segue, timing, and meaning with a slightly reworked version of New York to reflect the tragedies
6. Kite - If you are not in tears by now there is something wrong with you
7. Stuck in a Moment - Explores friendship, being stuck, and shows "its just a moment, this time will pass"
8. The Sweetest Thing - Lets lighten the mood. Plus this was a highlight for me!
*Frienship Speech / Band Introductions*
9. In A Little While - Needs no Explaination!
10. Accoustic #1: Stay, Wild Honey, ISHFWILF, Summer Rain, Angel, or Ground - The Accoustic set that would vary.
11. Accoustic #2: Stay, Wild Honey, ISHFWILF, Summer Rain, Angel, or Ground - The Accoustic set that would vary.
12. Out of Control or I Will Follow / Electric Co. (I love the crowd i need the crowd) - A great way to get out of the accoustic set, bring up the energy, highlight an oldie, show Bono's appreciation of the crowd, and prepare the audience for the NEXT song.
13. Sunday Bloody Sunday - This will be angry, sad, frustrated, hopeful, controversial, and a complete emotional explosion. Lots of energy.
14. Please - Bringing back Please to fit appropriately next to SBS, exploring the terrorism theme again.
15. Running To Stand Still - I can hear the 'pleeeaaase' ending segueing beautiful into RTSS exploring internal struggle and salvation
16. Beautiful Day - Out of the lingering depths of RTSS comes a new hope and energy..
17. Mysterious Ways - Spirit moves in Mysterious Ways..
18. The Fly - A man will rise a man will fall from the sheer face of love like A FLY FROM THE WALL.

ENCORE 1
19. Bullet the Blue Sky / Bono rap - Gone is the Heston Intro, Don't know what they're gonna do here, but I envision something angry and controversial while also being constructive
20. When I Look at the World - Edge finally figures out how to play this one live and it turns out to be a highlight of the show
21. Streets - Just when you thought it was safe, the most amazing segue from WILATW into STREETS.. Hard to imagine prolly but I do have it in my head.

ENCORE 2
22. Bad / 40 / Scarlet - Bad, is good as always lingering into scarlet...
*Bono Speech*
23. One / Walk On - Is there any better way to sum up what needs to be said? I've always liked the idea of walk on at the end of one foreshadowing the full song.
24. Peace On Earth / Walk On - Just like the tribute, maybe a bit more POE, but this is the ultimate show closer, with

Grace (PA)

I have a lot of ideas about effects and video images too, but maybe that's going a bit too far
wink.gif

Hmm.. 24 songs. Well they've done it before, maybe I am just optimistic.

a two hour Acrobat jam for the main set. starting the encore should go right into when i look at the world, followed by a full version of Peace On Earth and then Walk On.

------------------
i'm a reasonable man
get off my case
