U2's Thirteenth Album: Aimless Uncertainty?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The last time I saw Aerosmith was in 2002, I think? It was the year they did a double-headliner with KISS.

I nearly went to that tour, but I was a poor college kid! I saw Aerosmith with Mötley Crüe in 2006. I feel I got my money's worth with a lawn ticket.

I remember the rumored 2002 U2 European stadium tour was to be a co-headlined tour with Oasis. That would've been quite unnessessary.

I was fresh outta high school and preparing to start college for that Aerosmith/KISS show. I got cheap lawn seating but hey, it was good enough for me!

And yeah, I know the REM stuff is live concerts re-released. But STILL. They're putting out SOMETHING.

We can't even get a new compilation album.

But so far, there have been only been a few that can really focus these guys and make them truly great, and none that aren't named Brian or Danny.

Or Flood. And Jimmy Iovine, who produced the Rattle and Hum studio tracks. Most of those are great. But yeah, it comes down to U2.

Anyway, a producer is like a coach: a bad one can ruin the team, while a good one looks brilliant coaching all stars.

And yeah, I'd prefer a live album as well. I love the live shows and the bootlegs usually get more plays than the album once it's tour time.

Ooohhhhh Claw Porn!!!! What I wouldn't give to see that sucker again, it was magical and I don't think we will ever see it's like again!

If they took whatever songs they have and just played them in some live arrangement . Like play 2 shows and work out the kinks after the first night and play them the second night. Then just release that as the album. Playing them live negates the producer in some ways. I mean as long, as they are not touching it up in post production.

I've been on vacation since Thursday. Is it safe to assume I have missed exactly nothing in U2-land?

I did see the breaking news of Bono and Ali being in the glorious town of Dingle, so no need to bring me up to speed on those urgent developments.

I think u were named poster of the year, but can't remember if it was in the previous thread

I understood like peter Frampton and doobie brothers having to tour get together. Because they have not mattered in decades and are forgotten to most. Its funny how they try to sell Frampton in like a promotional flyer ,as if hes some rock god .lol. Folks. one great live album and few mild studio hits. Then by 1981 this guy was done. Sorry to say hes more a punchline then a respected artist. Doobie brothers had a pretty good run but they def in the "something mom and dad drag their children to who think they are still cool when they are not at all with other older middle aged people sitting in the parking lot of a amphitheater wishing it was 1978 again " category . But Santana and stewart have been on the rader far, far, far more recently and are far , far and away bigger and more respected acts. Im shocked.

And wtf does this have to do with this thread? Been celebrating St Paddys Day? :drunk:

Oooh! Do I get a Major Award?

Are you up to date on The Fisher Chronicles and the "darkness" at the heart of the U2 empire?

It's great reading.

Hellooo, I was the one who went and fetched the link to the thread on @U2 after another poster mentioned it.

Since it was brought up'
Aerosmith toured with
2002- Kid Rock/Run DMC
2003- Kiss
2004- Cheap Trick
2005-6- Lenny Kravitz
2006- Motley Crue
2007- Joan Jett
2009- ZZ Top (only 15/42 shows on this tour happened, due to Steven Tyler falling offstage)
2010- Sammy Hagar
2012- Cheap Trick

For this summer, I've found;
Styx & Foreigner
Def Leppard & Kiss
Journey & Steve Miller Band
Motley Crue & Alice Cooper
Chicago & REO Speedwagon
Goo Goo Dolls & Daughtry
Rod Stewart * Santana
Soundgarden & Nine Inch Nails

U2 and Bon Jovi are the only bands from their era that can still fill arenas on their own, without having to bring in other bands. These bands, together, still can't come close to filling these venues. I saw the Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows together in 2006, and they didn't fill HALF of the 20,000 capacity amphitheater they were playing.

Well, I just read through the old thread. I wasn't expecting the Fisher crap to take that turn.

And hey! I did win Inteference or something (thanks for the two or three posters who voted for me in the nonexistent poll)! I can't quote from a closed thread, but this made me laugh so hard I needed my inhaler.

I don't know. I found Corianderstem peaked in the early 90s. Since then, she doesn't experiment nearly enough with her posts and we often wait days in between them. How long does it take to make a bloody post?

Cori, just give them to us already. What are you waiting for? Are you going to call in another post editor to make them more catchy?

Don't get me wrong, I still love Corianderstem, but I just wish she'd forget about trying be relevant and loved by everyone and get back to what made her great.

mmk let it be known kid rock played for 45 minutes, aerosmith for 2 hours on their tour, they split equal time with kiss, cheap trick got 30 minutes on both the 2004 and 2012 tours, not co headliners, same goes for joan jett and hagar, hagar was on tour for 6 shows if memory serves. zz top did about an hour, aerosmith 90 minutes on their tour. not saying those acts didnt help fill in seats but they definately were not co-headlining shows what so ever.

So basically, U2 are the Dallas Cowboys of music since, i guess, the late 90's

Def Leppard and Kiss looks interesting. I've seen Def Leppard several times, but I have yet to see Kiss.
