My votes goes to Exit and Mothers of the Disappeard as two of U2's most darkest songs.

"His head felt heavy
As he cut acorss the land
A dog starting crying
Like a broken hearted man
At the howling wind...
The howling wind."

"Midnight, our sons and dughters
Were cut down and taken from us
Hear their heatbeat...
We hear their heartbeat
In the wind
We hear there laughter
In the rain
We see their tears
Hear the heartbeat..."

Exit live was definitely one of the highlights of Rattle and Hum. I hope there will be more songs in the future which would venture into U2's "dark side" (and more live versions as well).

Love Is Blindness is definatly the darkest. Nearly every other song listed either has a happy ending, or is generally dark due to the production style. LIB is dark lyrically, musically & conceptually.

Oh my heart.... Blindness.

I'd say most of their songs are dark, actually, or have a dark side to them.

But here are few I think are particularly dark:

Exit
Tomorrow
October
Babyface
Daddy's Gonna Pay for Your Crashed Car
Elvis Presley and America
just about every song on Pop

MOFO (most of the pop actually)
Bullet
Exit
The Fly
Love is Blindness
HMTMKMKM
Night & Day (cover)
An Cat Dubh

There are lot of them though...

I love how most of my very favorites are included in this list.

That being said, how about The Wanderer? Isn't that one of the more obvious ones?

October
New Year's Day

And this is just judging from the best of. How long does October go for? On the best of Bono starts singing at the 9:00 minute mark on the last track (All I Want Is You) and the song finishes at 9:51. How long is October on the actual album?
