good selections so far (except for creed ... though I'm *hoping* that was a joke).

I dunno who I'd pick, but after being utterly dissapointed by the Ethereal Tribute to U2 cd, I have little faith in tribute albums. Which is too bad, especially with the Ethereal Tribute CD, because it could have been sooooo good, and yet was so unrealized in the end.

*hmmph*

Prince - Lemon(would be immense and very interesting)

Nick Cave - Stay (he could do this extremely well)

Oasis - Staring At The Sun (perfect anthemic ballad for them)

REM -The First Time

Neil Young - Mothers Of The Dissappeared

Audioslave-Bullet The Blue Sky

Queens Of The Stone Age- The Fly (with Mark Lanegan on vocals)

The White Stripes-Sunday Bloody Sunday

Bob Dylan-One

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club-Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me

Pretty good line-up if you ask me

If ya happen to pick up Pearl Jam's latest... EV does a little half spoken word / half sung bit on the tune Bushleager... which is a little jab at W., which even as a Republican, I find pretty funny. Anyhoo to the point... listening to that I can only imagine how a Bullet The Blue Sky cover would sound. I hope Ed and company check out this forum and give it a try

I think the best type of tribute would be comprised of the least expected artists. Groups and performers that seem to share minimally in relation.

Good candidates for this job would be:

AC/DC doing "God Part II"

Elton John doing "Angel of Harlem"

Eminem doing "Running to Stand Still"

Marilyn Manson doing "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"

Okay, alright.....seriously....let me think of some good ones.....

Here you go....

Tori Amos (because she's great at those slow, melodic ballads) doing "With or Without You"

Bon Jovi with "Mysterious Ways"

throw in the Johnny Cash version of "One"

and....Leonard Cohen doing "Until The End of The World"

Echo And the Bunnymen could do a good version of Beautiful Day, although McCullough's hatred of U2 would negate this from ever happening

Here are my choices for a tribute album. I've thought about songs which could go on there and which artists would be suited to performing them. So in no particular order, my choices are:

Manic Street Preachers "Sunday Bloody Sunday"
Alicia Keys "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"
Linkin Park "The Fly"
Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Mysterious Ways"
Coldplay "One"
Eminem "Numb"
Radiohead "Stay (Faraway, So Close)"
Kylie Minogue "Discotheque"
Robbie Williams "Even Better Than The Real Thing"
Oasis "Gone"
Metallica "Bullet The Blue Sky"
REM "With Or Without You"
Wyclef Jean & Christina Aguilera "When Love Comes To Town"
Foo Fighters "I Will Follow"
U2 "The Wanderer" with Bono on lead vocals

I can't think of any more at the minute but I'll be interested to know your thoughts on this selection.

I fully adhere.

Anyway Miami by Stone Temple Pilots' own Scott Weiland would be interesting as well as Simple Minds doing Your Blue Room or With Or Without You.
