Former U.S. President Bill Clinton's $165 million presidential library opening this week in Arkansas embodies everything he was and is.
The William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park portrays Clinton by mixing substance, flash, scandal, drama, and celebrity, The Christian Science Monitor reported Wednesday. Clinton's impeachment battle reportedly is addressed in a library alcove called Fight for Power, and mentions Monica Lewinsky.
The 150,000 square-foot library sits on a 30-acre park along the Arkansas River in what was once a rundown warehouse district of Little Rock. Its museum, archives, public-service graduate school, foundation offices and apartment space for the former first couple make it by far the most elaborate of the nation's 12 presidential libraries.
There's been partying for several days prior to Thursday's opening,
which will be headlined by U2's Bono and The Edge. An estimated 30,000 invited guests are expected in Little Rock to mark the opening, including President George Bush.
