All are decent songs, good enough not to skip, but not enough to love.

A Sort of Homecoming
So Cruel
Whose Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Two Hearts Beat As One
City of Blinding Lights
Crumbs From Your Table
Some Days Are Better Then Others

On a basic level I enjoy them, but the band never connects with me personally on any of these. How about you?

Heh, I love the unloved U2 songs more than their mainstream shit. All you listed are some of my favs. "So Cruel" is my #1 all time favorite track of U2. I've seen U2 live many, many times, but I love the "not popular" tracks more than the record sellers.

I'd like to add:

"The Refugee"
"Surrender"
"Playboy Mansion"
"Trip Through Your Wires"
"van diemen's land"
"Elvis Presley and America"
"Zooropa"
"Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me"
"North and South of the River"
"God part II"
"Always"

and more

to my list of greatest U2 songs.

mobvok, I have a little disconnect with some on your list too. It is hard to describe, but somehow, I think that (for me) the music on some of these is not working with the lyrics as other U2 songs do that convey one strong feeling. EVEN though, seperately, the lyrics and music are great!

For me COBL is just right, after hearing it live. I connect with the others - more so - with reading their lyrics.

WLCTT
Please
Do You Feel Loved?
New York

Even Better Than The Real Thing
The First Time
One Tree Hill
COBL
Shadows And Tall Trees
New Years Day
And So Cruel

BTW - Playboy Mansion is the best song on POP. It sums up the whole theme of the album (here we are in the Last Days, consumed by entertainment, commercialisim, and sound bytes...but somehow...I've GOT to believe)

Anyway, the songs I don't connect with, but still love, are:

1) Bullet the Blue Sky
2) Stuck
3) 4th of July

A Sort of Homecoming and EPAA for me are the weakest tracks on UF, and really stop me from truly loving the album.

I think a good portion of Rattle & Hum and the 2nd half of ATYCLB are pretty high up there too.

I can't believe One and So Cruel have had a mention! Two of the BEST U2 songs ever!

Miami and Elvis Presley are the two I don't get.

Mofo. I like the song, and it's fun to kinda rock out to, but I never really enjoyed the lyrics. They're all kinda weird and don't make too much sense to me. Talking bout lemonade and holy dunc space junk. Wha? I think it's TOO much noise for me, if it wasn't so desperately trying to do SO much at once, I'd "get" it a little better. Oh well it's still a cool song to sing...

MooooFOOOOOOOOoooooo!

Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of
The Hands that Built America

Most of the songs on the last two albums.

Surprised that "A Sort of Homecoming" a mention. I always thought of that as THE quintessential U2 song. But there's no accounting for taste.

I think this posting really shows that U2 speaks to different people in different ways, which is one of the things makes them such a great band.

Usually there's one song in each album that I don't really get:

Crumbs From Your Table
When I Look At The World
The Playboy Mansion
The First Time (although I fell in love with it when they played it live in São Paulo)
Acrobat (I just can't see what makes so many people worship this one)
Love Rescue Me
Elvis Presley And America (TUF is my favorite album, but I have to admit I skip this one sometimes)
Drowning Man/The Refugee
Stranger In a Strange Land

That's it.

From Boy: "Into The Heart" - love the guitar segueway, and the song isn't that bad, but just a little too precious sounding for me.
October: "Fire" - why was this a single? Beats me. "I Fall Down" would've been a greater contender, but I guess they were going for guitar bombast.
War: "Red Light" - has potential but fails in execution. "Surrender" kinda meanders.
TUF: Nothing, love every song. Used to be whatever about "indian summer sky" but it's grown on me.
Joshua Tree: Flawless, except the volume's too low on Exit.
Rattle & Hum: Um..where do I start..."Helter Skelter" is alright nothing more. "All Along the Watchtower" is a lame uninspired cover. "Silver & Gold" i never cared for. "Love Rescue Me" is boring. That's about it i guess.
Achtung Baby: Flawless, wouldn't change a thing.
Zooropa: Flawless, wouldn't change a thing, 'cept maybe cranking the volume on "Dirty Day."
Pop: All the songs are great. Some needed better production.
ATYCLB: Great album. "Beautiful Day" wears thin after many listens, same with "Walk On."
HTDAAB: Let me list the songs I do like: "Vertigo", "All Because Of You", "Crumbs" and excerpts from "Love and Peace Or Else". "Fast Cars" should've been on every album pressing. And the rest of the tracks Eno should have erased and said try again.

Mysterious Ways is my pick. It has never grown on me.

Funny how different peoples taste is! Some of my favourite songs have been listed in this thread!

One

Never did anything emotional for me.

Neither. I can only stand to listen to one version of it, the performance in Sarajevo on 1997-09-23 (but that show's so good that I can listen to even the bad parts, like the usually appalling Popmart version of WOWY). Speaking of WOWY, if you ask me, One is at best a bland shadow of WOWY.

The best part of One (the "do you hear us coming?" verse) didn't even make the studio version.

Miami
Velvet Dress
Last Night On Earth
Playboy Mansion
Do you feel loved
So cruel
One tree hill
The First Time
Some Days Are Better Then Others
Miss Sarajevo
Love Rescue Me
The Ocean
Scarlet
Mothers of the disappeared
Zooropa

Staring at the Sun--- the lyrics are like WTF???
Elvis Presley and America--- the lyrics are like WTF? and the song is so depressing. If you're in a depressing mood, then it's a great song.

Lets see: Pyramid Song, Fitter Happier, Electioneering, Hunting Bears...

Oh wait.

I guess Heartland. Never really cared for it that much. It's pretty bland, really. Like a lot of Rattle & Hum.

Also: Velvet Dress, Miami, and The Playboy Mansion. Never cared for any of those. Along with everything past track 5 on ATYCLB. But now I feel like I'm listing my least liked U2 songs, so I'll stop.

I cannot believe so many do not like OOTS:sad: It is one of my favorite songs on HTDAAB.
