Dare I say it; Electric Co. By far the weakest track on Boy and hasn't done anything for me live either.

I think this one's hard to connect with, cos it's about Bono losing his mother when he was a boy, well that's how I read it.

That's cool - but even though that might have been the light in which Bono wrote the song, it doesn't necessarily have to be how you hear it each time. That's the great thing about music and lyrics - you can put songs in whatever context that appeals to you.

EXACTLY ... the DNA of the whole album is encapsulated perfectly in that song. I am always baffled by people who like the album but not that song! How is that even possible?!

With my own interpretations, and those I've read from others, as well as reading Bono's own words about some songs, can't think of any songs I don't "get." Maybe Elvis Prestley and America but Bono was just singing over a back track or something and whatever words came out Eno recorded it.

4th of July is Edge and Adam just jamming around with their respective instruments and Eno recorded it and put it on the album.

Songs I don't really connect with:

Trip Through Your Wires
Love Rescue Me
Trying to throw your arms...
Wake Up Dead Man

i see that a lot of people dont understand walk on, its about Aung San Suu Kyi who is a political activist in burma, it was written as a boost to her work and as a protest to her house arrest by the burmese government.

Isn't Miracle Drug about Bono wanting a cure/pill to end world suffering?

He sings:

"I've seen enough, i'm not giving up on a miracle drug"

nope, not really, its about the story Christopher Nolan

Quote:
We come from the North side o' Dublin, went to a school called Mount Temple Comprehensive. That's where we met. When we were leaving this new student came in. He was a boy completely paralyzed, nothing moving. He was born ... w/o oxygen, but he had something in his eyes, this light in his eyes. So his mother believed in him, that he was awake, that he was conscious... So she used to read to him ... teach him. Then when he was 13 years old, they discovered this little drug which allowed him to move his neck one inch ... and with that he was able to type with this little thing they attached to his head. Turns out, he'd been writing stuff in his head for years, this poetry, beautiful poetry - put out this book called "Dam-Burst of Dreams" ... his first poem was called "I Learned To Bow" where he thanked God for the gift of science and medicine. Of course, science, medicine & god are all the same thing. They should always be the same thing. His name is Christopher Nolan, this is called "Miracle Drug..."
though Bono also said this:

"But in a more oblique way (Miracle Drug) is probably as much about Aids and the drugs developed to arrest it. I couldn't write specifically about that without feeling an idiot."
