Why are you so grumpy lately doctorwho? You have always been such a nice guy... Hope all is well in your world.

Oh, and U2 fans rock!

I agree with doctorwho completely. In fact, the next time I see a U2fan I will probably run up to him and start hitting him or something.

Damn, you're right! What a bunch of idiots!

They aren't fun or nice or campassionate or friendly, they'd never party with people they've never met, they'd never offer anyone a face value GA to a Vegas show, they wouldn't drive you all the way into the cold desert to look for falling stars, they wouldn't buy ya a beer after a long day in a GA line, they'd never fix posts you screw up, they wouldn't let you room with them for a weekend, or drive you across the state to see a show, and they'd never give you an on-line hug.

It'll be better soon!

But we aren't all like that. There are a few rotten apples in every group. I am sure you have also met some very caring and friendly U2 fans, I know I have.

While I agree with you on many points doctorwho, I can't help but make a few of my own regarding the fact that I think U2 fans rock!!

I have had the honour to have a complete stranger go out of his way to get 30+ fans face value tix to Slane. Me being one of those fans.

I have had another complete stranger get me tickets to U2 in London, not to mention pick me up at the airport and escort us all to our hostels. He's now a buddy of mine.

I have had many people send me CD's, videos, you name it! free of charge for simply being a U2 fan! Strangers again.

I have met an extraordinary amount of amazing people this year while waiting in line at the gigs. Many have become lasting friendships, and possibly a lasting love...

I think on the whole, U2 fans look out for eachother, sharing stories, trading collectibles and all in all enjoying the company of eachother's passion for the greatest band in the world. While many *do* whine, complain, blah, blah, blah... so will other fans too. We all just want a piece of U2, and we all can't get it, so yeah, there will always be whiners and complainers. I even witnessed a guy get punched out at the Vegas gig for some reason or other and that sucks, but don't lump all U2 fans into one group.

I, and my friends don't deserve that.

on a serious note..U2 fans are arguably the best fan unit I have come across, and I am into many other bands..I don't really need to give reasons, just the fact that I come here nearly everyday to hear you fine people talk non-stop

shows your doing something right....plus all the fans at my first U2 show last August were incredible..during the show I had my arm round people I'd never met during the performance just soaking up every second of the music...they really made that show for me, very kind, and very hospitable people

You can't tease them, you can't carry on a conversation, you can't disagree with them, many are selfish and God forbid you praise another band in front of them.

I've also known way too many fans who steal and cheat their fellow fans.

hey nOW!!!

TAKE a step back, doctor!

You're way too close to the band. And you expect way too much out of strangers. I GUESS YOU FORGOT, BUT PEOPLE SUCK! U2 fans are the best of the bunch, but ON THE WHOLE, they aRE REALLY NO DIFFERENT!

sIM sIM sIMMA!!!!!!!!

wHAT DO YOU EXPECT OUT OF TOTAL STRANGERS???

bE REALISTIC!!!!!!

Now I'll admit, this is a little annoying!

yep, you are getting confused with u2 fans and society in general! theres good and bad in every society and I for one have found nothing but helpful people in the u2 community, but sure, you are going to come across arseholes, you more or less talked yourself into the catergory of people you are moaning about! LMAO!
Or did you just get of the wrong side of the bed today?

BLARGH!!

I am none of the above U2Fan traits - and would never cheat anyone who wanted something from me U2-related.

But generalizing a large group of people is exactly the mindset that causes alot of problems in this world. Best not to propagate such a useless tactic just because some bad apples have left a less than desirable taste in your mouth.

Peace, baby, peace.

I confess-I've been a little 'disillusioned' lately-but the GOOD experiences still FAR outweigh the bad.

Maybe if you try to look at it this way, doctorwho, you'll feel better.

DrWho. Don't make a general judgement. For instance - I think that a pearson is not totaly normal if he is a big fan of anyone, and if he makes that pearson, pearson of his worship a semigod - they are all (U2 maybe more than others) just people like us with much more money and musical talent maybe - but yet I don't think that everyone on this forum is such fan.
You are right on some points - especialy about making a decent coversation - people here are not realy ready for criticism, and they tend to piss all over the bands that are not like U2, or artists and people that Bono didn't specificaly said he likes...

but, hey, it's the net, it's all a big fun, don't mind what all the stupid (or not so stupid ) people are telling you - just go on doing your buisiness and enjoy... Don't take everithing personal or you will be the same as the people that you are talking about

Don't let a few examples spoil the bunch. I have come across the greatest fans during this tour. And even before I had attended a show, I experienced the kindness of U2 fans simply from being connected to the net. I have had fans send me recordings free of charge, voluntarily. A U2 fan treated me to the San Jose concert--how cool is that? btw, the overpriced CDs or bootlegs... are you referring to things listed on e-bay and such? If so, that's not a fair remark, because you know you'll find such happenings in that market, with every band.

Generalizations are not cool.

POP Whore sent me the British GQ with U2 in it.

In return, I made POP Whore a U2 videotape featuring videos and specials she never got to see but wanted to.

Upon hearing that I didn't own any bootlegs (except for this crappy, crappy recording I found in record store), I've had several U2 fans offer me a free boot or two from their collection...no charge for anything...not even the discs themselves.

Yeah...U2 fans are such jerks...

But you don't know the half of it..."

U2 fans are some of the most generous, awesome people I have ever met.

Never have I recieved CDs, posters, etc from total strangers, who ask nothing in return.

Never have I met a large group of strangers and have thougt to myself, every single person here is cool.

Of course there will always be a few asses.. no matter what kind of fan you are.

I'm sorry I can't agree with you doctorwho.
I've met several U2 fans on this tour and I have nothing but great things to say about them.
I was able to be among the lucky 150 people who saw U2 last year at the FarmClub taping, thanks to a very generous U2 fan who I had never met before the show.
I'm the greatful owner of U2 bootlegs thanks to awesome U2 fans, who are from as far as Brazil.
I don't think the U2 fans in the GA line sharing their donuts, pretzels, water, food, magazines, etc. suck.
How can a U2 fans who their extra tickets at face value, some even cheaper than what they paid for them, suck?
Sorry if you had bad experiences but it's not right to generalized.
