A local radio station here in New York just announced that U2 will be performing at the concert. Can anyone conferm this?

To my knowledge they're not performing. But on an odd note the Sci-Fi channel advertised the concert by playing "Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own" as a background to clips of Sheryl Crow and the like.
Weird, huh?

I watched it tonight and sadly there was no U2. But at least part of the song was played for the promo. It wasn't the entire track but the words "sometimes you can't make it on your own, and then a little snip of the music.
All the clear channel stations on my cable network have been running the promo since Thursday, at least. I think it was put together so quickly that maybe U2 couldn't schedule it in, with all that's going on in their respective lives. Or maybe they have something else planned.
