tracklist new best of !!!!! disappointing!!!!

This is the tracklist of the new best of....very very disappointing!
Why ignoring Please?? and Last night on earth and The ground beneath her feet? and many others. They should have let the ATYCLB songs out of this (Stuck in a moment is notably a 2001-song!!!!) And Numb or The first time weren't big hits! And where is Elevation and Walk on? And than those B-sides with, again Electrical Storm. I see this as a commercial album, not as a representation of the decade. Seems they're more interested in making money nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan, and I will buy it, but it's still shit!

Even Better Than The Real Thing
Mysterious Ways
Beautiful Day
Electrical Storm (William Orbit Mix) (new song)
One
Miss Sarajevo
Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
Gone (new mix)
Until The End Of The World
The Hands That Built America (new song)
Discoth?que (new mix)
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
Staring At The Sun (new mix)
Numb (new mix)
The First Time
The Fly

The B-sides tracklisting is as follows:

Lady With The Spinning Head (Extended Dance Mix)
Dirty Day (Junk Day Mix)
Electrical Storm
Summer Rain
North & South Of The River
Your Blue Room
Happiness Is A Warm Gun (The Gun Mix)
Salome (Zooromancer Mix)
Even Better Than The Real Thing (Perfecto Mix)
Numb (Give Me Some More Dignity Mix)
Mysterious Ways (Solar Plexus Club Mix)
If God Will Send His Angels - (Big Yam Mix)
Lemon (Jeep Mix)
Discoth?que (Hexidecimal Mix)

glad someone agrees with me,
why weren't any of the following songs included
please
lemon ( am i blind or did i not see it)
walk on
elevation (they only had a concert by the name of it)

presonally i would replace miss sarajevo, the first time, gone (all great songs) with any of the top ones.

I don't mind the first CD so much. Although I do agree with the point you make about "the first time". A great song but not a best of.

Now the B-sides, that's what gets me. What's up with all the remixes. Threre are only 4 original songs on it. There are enough studio songs to pick from without using remixes. If they want to release another dance album like "Melon" fine that's cool, but don't put them on a best of album.

Regardless I will buy the CD.

Why "Please" wasn't chosen I have no idea (although it wasn't really a hit.) Lemon isn't on there because casual fans wouldn't like it. "Walk On" and "Elevation" were released as singles in 2001, so they'll be on the next best of. As for "Stuck". it was released as a single in the year 2000 in almost every place but North America.

My major gripes are with Please, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, Wake Up Dead Man, Last Night On Earth, Walk On and Elevation not being included (the last two were on an album released in 2000, regardless of when the singles were released). I don't mind "The First Time" though, which I think is a really beautiful song.

And I do know they can't have every song on it but songs like Miss Sarajevo and all the remixes are certainly "chopable".

Also they should really have made actual b-sides of the second disc (there are plenty that've been mention - Always, Satellite, Paint It Black etc.)

To foray, I know that a remixed Lemon is on the B-Sides album, but it's just disappointing that the band decided not to include it on the hits disc.

As for the B-Sides album itself, I couldn't agree more with Joshua_Tree_Hugger. I'd much rather have a disc of rare songs than one of remixes of tracks we already know by heart.

Commercial???

How does including several lesser known (to the casual fan) tracks like Gone, The First Time and Miss Sarajevo in place of big hits like Elevation, Walk On and Who's Gonna Ride equate to commercialism?? Wouldn't it be wiser to include ALL your hit singles? Wouldn't that be a better way to rake in the dough?
Some of you really need to get a grip.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!

I always get excited about the idea of an officially released b-sides comp... but they left off all the tracks I would have considered essential: Night and Day, Holy Joe, Alex Decends etc.... even Stateless would have been a better choice than most of those remixes.

Loooooks like I'll be makin my own b-sides comp instead!

I also found the track listing a bit disappointing and I don't like the idea of the remixes as B Sides while we have Where did it all go wrong, Night and Day and so many other B Sides out.

We -the fans- should have chosen the tracks in a poll or something. Which artist did that with her compilation? Bj?rk maybe? That was a cool idea

Letting the fans choose is a bad idea. The band wouldn't get represented the way that they want to, while the casual listener would get stuck with stuff like Mofo because of the POP jihad that exists..........

Just this....

A "Best Of" is not made for the die-hard fans, they have most the songs. The reason for releasing a Best Of is not to please the die-hards, the real die-hards will probably buy it anyway. It is there solely to make money from those who like U2, but preferably have an album with not much more than hits on it. It is not made for artistic reasons but for financial reasons, so in fact they don't have to keep the die-hards in mind that much.

I reckon you're right. They don't have to please everyone. On the tracklisting, I reckon, as one of my mates said to me, that any band could have done Electrical Storm. It's good but it's not great. Certainly this is not as good as the 80-90 album. If they're gonna do remixes, where's Johnny Moy's remix of Elevation that opened the tour?

Maybe they should have released .............U2 FANS FAVOURITE HITS 1990 - 2000 and release 10 different versions to suit us all - cuz I just bought it today and much as I love it.....I too am missing ZOOROPA and LEMON and MOFO and MIAMI (yes MIAMI!!!) but I wouldn't fancy ULTRAVIOLET like some of u would -so I guess they ain't gonna please all of us. I do wish they never butchered or I mean "re-mixed" the POP tracks - they're ok but I wanted the originals in all their glory. Now someones gonna tell me if I want to hear these tracks I can listen to the original Albums. But I wanted them acknowledged by the band as their best stuff - that's all...........oh yeah and that DISCOTHEQUE cut, what's that all about?......all the fizz is gone. Anyway I'll shut up now cuz I do love them........I'm just not talkin to them for a while :eeklaugh: .

Well I love it, I just bought it this morning and it's great.

I think most of you are way too picky and expect way too much......

The only complaint i have is i wish there were more bside originals , as I'm not much of a remix person but still, i'm happy.

I got 2 cd's and a dvd for 14.99!!

it doesn't take much to please me.

U2.com actually already did a poll of everyones favourite songs from each album. It drew in tens of thousands of votes.

Please and Gone were far and away the top two selections from Pop.

I agree with you, Allclub (maybe it's a newbie thing. ) When the rumor for the bew best of first came out, I was thinking, What could be better than One, Numb, Gone, Until the End of the World, and Elevation (among many others) on the same album? They are, and I do like the new mixes of Gone and Numb, but they de-POPped them. Or turned the Larry singing track up a little loud.
I guess my point is that the first CD sounds like they made the POP songs sound a little more Joshua Tree/ATYCLB to make the casual fan happy. I don't know WHAT that casual fan is going to do with the Dirty Day Junk Mix! :eeklaugh:

Best of 1990-2000 tracklisting

I do agree with most of The Best of tracklisting, but I would not have included The First Time, but instead include Please and Walk On. I also would've included Elevation between The Hands that Built America and Discotheque.

As for the B-sides I agree with what many have said here about the remixes inclusion. I think that they should've done a proper B-sides compilation and included a special double CD compilation of remixes with the album instead of the DVD. and have the DVD released with the Electrical Storm single. Just for the record here is my Tracklisting of the B-sides and Remixes discs.

B-sides:
1. Lady with the Spinning Head (UV1)
2. Holy Joe (Garage Mix)
3. Salome
4. Big Girls are Best
5. Lemon (Jeep Mix)
6. Alex Descends into Hell for a Bottle of Milk
7. Happiness is a Warm Gun (Gun Mix)
8. Satellite of Love
9. Stateless
10. Your Blue Room
11. North and South of the River
12. Night and Day
13. Always
14. Summer Rain
15. Don't Take your Guns to Town
16. Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad
17. Slow Dancing (Stay, Single Version)

Remixes:
CD1:
1. Lemon (Perfecto Mix)
2. Discotheque (Hexidecimal Mix)
3. Beautiful Day (Quincey and Sonance Mix)
4. Salome (Zooramncer Mix)
5. Numb (Gimme Some More Dignity Mix)
6. Mysterious Ways (Perfecto Mix)
7. Staring at the Sun (Sad Bastards Mix)
8. Elevation (Vandit Club Mix)
9. Stay (Faraway, So Close) (Underdog Mix)
10. Even Better than the Real Thing (Apollo 440 Stealth Sonic Mix)

CD2:
1. Mofo (Phunk Phorce Mix)
2. New York (Nice Mix)
3. Numb (Soul Assasins Mix)
4. Mysterious Ways (Massive Attack Mix)
5. If God Will Send his Angels (Big Yam Mix)
6. Dirty Day (Junk Day Mix)
7. Lady With the Spinning Head (Extended Dance Mix)
8. Discotheque (DM Deep Club Mix)
9. Even Better than the Real Thing (Perfecto Mix)
10. Lemon (Bad Yard Club Mix)

I would love to know what everyone thinks of this tracklisting?

I agree for the most part, however, remember that songs like Elevation and Walk On were not included due to thier releases being after 2000....

Hi, my first post here

I just want to say that I hate the 'Numb, gimme some more dignity mix' :scream:

but the rest of the stuff is FLY

But if a Greatest Hits album is only for casual fans, why would you change the singles that the casual fans liked in the first place??
