Top 11 Lamest U2 Songs

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
This is not in order, and just what popped up straight away:

Original of the Species, Refugee, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own, Sweetest Thing, Babyface, Trip Through Your Wires, When Love Comes to Town, Grace, and a clear winner in Yahweh.

I'm not sure it's fair to call a b-side one of U2's lamest songs. They are b-sides for a reason. ex. J. Swallow.

sure, but U2 has some fantastic b-sides, b-sides that are good enough to be album tracks...if the song really sucks, U2 shouldn't release it at all

I can't believe I didn't mention Red Light, that is one of the very few U2 songs that is truly bad

Red Light's great! A nice sort of Taxi Driver homage........personally, I thought they did really well with it because I got the whole TD sort of style before seeing them mention it in an interview or book or whatever it was.

Boy/Girl
Shadows And Tall Trees
J. Swallow
Paint It Black
Fortunate Son
Babyface
Ito Okashi
Corpse (These Chains Are Way Too Long)
Elvis Ate America
Theme From The Swan
Viva Davidoff

11) Wild Honey - U2 trying to be Van Morrison
10) When Love Comes To Town - U2 reminding us that they're white...and lame
9) The Refugee - U2 trying to sound like morons, and they succeed!
8) Stories For Boys - U2 before they ever heard of homosexuality
7) A Celebration - U2 rebelling against the mistreatment of Irish immigrants in a local Arby's joint
6) One Step Closer - U2 trying to emulate the sound of a slowly growing cancer.
5) Red Light - U2 trying to fuck some girls in the studio. Turns out they fucked us instead!
4) Yahweh - Bono slips on a banana peel and by some coincidence the record button was turned on. Yah-WAYYYYYY
3) Sometimes You Can't.... - Bono decides the subject of his dad's death makes good for pop music
2) A Man And A Woman - Bono's tribute to Viagra
1) What's Goin On (remake) - Bono actually consults Fred Durst

After reading this thread,i come the this conclusion:

It gives credibility to the U2 bashers saying that they are the most overrated band.I mean, for god sake!!, i think the only songs that hasn't been mention has lame are "Streets" and "Sunday bloody Sunday"....

On which other band board will you see fans destroying an entire band cataloge??????????

:eyebrow:

WalkOnTheEdge is right, everyone. Shame on you all for disliking what is U2's best song, like, ever. :tsk: Shame on you all for having an opinion. :tsk:

Quick, someone find a stake and some kerosene. You will all burn for your sins against 2000 era U2! Repent!

About time you came around GibsonGirl and realized the error of your ways. :sexywink:

I have my own favorites and not favorites and no one else's list will change my views. :D

the U2 bashers will take every half arsed reason for their ways though
not ever laser beams can stop them
though I am in favour to give it a shot

I think it's funny how two of the biggest critics on our board, chose songs that one wasn't even released at the time of his comment, and the other a song where pretty much the only thing U2 had to do with it was Bono's voice show up on it.:|

I would have thought coming up with songs would have been much easier than that for some.

Should that really count though?

I know it's on the album, but wasn't it a drum loop or the music itself played backwards with Bono ad-libbing?
It counts.

His list doesn't actually bother me that much. The songs he listed - except Vertigo and BTBS - aren't exactly lame, but aren't U2's best songs (in my opinion).

In fact, BTBS is one of U2's best songs.

Most of them, probably. Just because most songs have a detractor or two doesn't mean most U2 fans hate the majority of the catalog....

Anyway, my Crap 11....(Not counting Passengers, instrumentals, Elvis Pressley and America, and Into the Heart :D )

In no particular order:

Ave Maria
Fortunate Son (Worst. Cover. Ever.)
Is That All?
Scarlet
I Fall Down
Love Rescue Me
The Playboy Mansion
Trash Trampoline and the Party Girl (Original B-Side, love it live)
Peace on Earth
Shadows and Tall Trees

And, the Worst U2 Song Ever (IMHO)....

Grace. Oh dear God it sucks.

(Honorable mentions go to Still Haven't Found (R&H version), Elevation sucks on the album, but it was a highlight on this past tour.)
