Don't have to be super fantastic, but just your 10 favorite Bono moments.

1.With or Without You (Rattle and Hum version)
2.Heartland
3.Red Hill Mining Town
4.Electrical Storm (HAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!)
5.Kite
6.Walk on
7.Stuck in a moment (And if...and if the night...runs oveerrrr!)
8.Unforgettable Fire- chorus
9.Dirty Day- Father to son section
10.Wild horses- Bridge

Oh, this is great!

But hard. Very hard indeed. Hmmm . . .

1. The 'aahhhh's' at the end of 'One'. Shivers down my spine.
2. 'With Or Without You', in general.
3. The moaning on HMTMKMKM.
4. 'Bad' - again, in general.
5. 'Scream without raising your voice' in RTSS
6. 'tart' from UTEOTW.
7. 'justify' from 'Pride', specifically the PopMart Mexico City version. Yes, I'm weird, but so what?
8. 'Lehhhmooonnnn'!
9. The campy 'Fat Lady' bit on 'Numb'
10. 'I was a monkey' on 'Wild Homey' - mostly just hearing him admit it.

Which reminds me of something, so I'll just cheat and add a 10.5 - has anyone else noticed this about WH? - that when Bono sings at around 3:38 (I think - I'll have to check) he slurs the lyric just enough so that it sounds like he's saying 'Edge is blowing in the breeze.'

I can't listen to that song with a straight face any more. :D

This is a hard one...

No particular order:

- Can't help falling & Satellite of Love - ZooTV-Sydney
- Kite
- Night and Day (an incredible falsetto somewhere in a mix..)
- Red Hill Mining Town
- Bad
- Stuck
- Running to stand still - Halleluja - zoo, sydney
- All I want is you (especially a new thing bono has added. When he sing the from-the-cradle-part, he goes very high on craaaaaadle. When i was in Denmark for the first Elevation-show, i couldn't help laughing when he did that, because people had talked about Bono loosing his voice...)
- Still haven't found....
- Hands that build.... (the opera-part is very cool, but it general a good performance).

This is no list of the best moments, just the ten i can think of right now. The list could go on...

1. Electrical Storm (great performance)
2. Kite ("A MAAAAAN):D
3. Even better than the real thing (so sexy)
4. One (very moving)
5. Running to stand still (the same here:sad: )
6. Where the streets have no name (uplifting)
7. Sunday bloody sunday
8. Bad (well the live version ROCKS)
9. In a little while (you can hear that :bono: was a little bit :drunk: the night before / it sounds interesting  )
10. Pride

This list could go on....

 :bono:

I also have a weakness for the way he says justify in "Pride!"

::runs to get CD's out of the car to compile a top 10 list::

1. With or Without You (JT album version)
2. One (AB album version)
3. Three Sunrises
4. One Tree Hill (JT album version)
5. Streets live (Please single version)
6. Heartland
7. All I Want Is You
8. Pride (UF album version)
9. Mysterious Ways (AB album version)
10. Running to Stand Still (JT album version - great restraint)

don't think I could do a top 10, but these are some that I love:

- One Tree Hill: "And when it's raining, raining hard..."

- Angel of Harlem (album version): just the "yeah! yeah!" part in the middle of the song (this is a pretty poor choice, but hey, I love it.)

- Running to Stand Still (Zoo TV Sydney): "Haleh-haleh, halellujah, haleh-haleh"

- Bad: any time he goes off on the "fade away" part

- of course the bridge from Wild Horses

- Sunday Bloody Sunday: the word "tonight"

"One Tree Hill," "A Sort of Homecoming," "Stay," "Angel of Harlem..."

1. With or Without You (either JT or Rattle and Hum)
2. Pride (from UF)
3. Bad (from Wide Awake in America)
4. Heartland (especially the very high part right at the end)
5. One (the "ahh" part at the end)
6. Ultraviolet (the line "your love was a light bulb hanging over my bed" - there's just something about the way he pronounces love as "luv."
7. Spanish Eyes
8. Satellite of Love
9. All I Want Is You (YOUUUU! ALL I WANT IS YOUUUU!)
10. Angel of Harlem

Yoyoyo - "Wild Homey" - is dat some new funky U2 rap I ain't heard yet? Sounds wack!

:lmao:

j/k

Oh DIE!!!!!

:lmao:

And me the super-typo-obsessed English major, too. :der:

I'm a git, I admit it. But it's so amazingly funny, albeit unintentionally, that I'm going to leave it like that.

And can you imagine the HORROR of Mac(Phisto) Daddy Bono, Rammin' Slammin' Mr. The Edge, Adam 'I Like It When You Call Me Big Poppa' Clayton and Junior Mullen?

Actually, I think I have a picture from the Achtung Baby era that looks quite like that. Anyone know the one I mean - where Larry is wearing a bandana and doing something peculiar with his hands and Edge seems to be pelvic thrusting with his hands on his head? Bono and Adam don't look quite so odd, but the whole effect is . . . scary.

this is really impossible for me to post mine too, it's just too overwhelming a task but i have to say, that I really really really have enjoyed this thread!

:p

OK...random order...leaving out gazillions of wonderful moments!

*please keep in mind that I MELT on lines when his voice cracks...and every time the letter U comes up, as in words such as love ...and that I haven't changed the CD in my car for three days and it's Achtung Baby...*

WOWY- JT- especially the oh's

If You Wear That Velvet Dress- POP- one of the last "velvets-" it's looong and drawn out and his voice cracks so it sounds like he's PLEADING...as well as THE WHOLE SONG...someone sing it to ME...

Love is Blindness- AB- every time he says Love

Mysterious Ways- AB- the vocalizing toward the end...

One- AB- The "aah's" at the end and I have LOVED "We have to carry each other...carry each other" since the day the song came out...

Stuck in a Moment...- ATYCLB- And if your way should falter...

Walk On- And love...is not the easy thing...the only baggage...that you can bring...Love, is not the easy thing...the only baggage you can bring is all that you can't, leave behind...

Pride- Justify :sexywink: and IN THE NAME...OF LOVE... LOVE screaming along with that part...

There are soooo many more but these are the most obvious, or the ones I have loved since I could turn on the radio.

:bono:

album moments

1) Bad
2) Pride
3) MLK
4) WOWY
5) Angel of Harlem
6) One
7) Stay
8) In a little while
9) Kite
10) Electrical Storm (the "HEEEEEEEY"s and "colors & places" part)

I'm not sure how many have heard it, but Bono's performance with a combined One/Walk On song in December of 2000 is remarkable. The concert itself is fantastic, and it was one of the highlights.

* The high bits in "With or without you"
* 'I'm WIIIIDE AWAAAKE' in Bad
* 'HEEEEYYEEYYY' in Electrical Storm
* Miss Sarajevo

Thats all I can think of right now!

Some highlights (confining myself to actual vocals commited to record)

If You Wear That Velvet Dress
Two Shots Of Happy, One Shot Of Sad
With Or Without You
Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
Desire
Lemon
One
Dirty Day
All I Want Is You

and one I'm surprised hasn't been said more often (or maybe I'm getting old)

"Well tonight thank God it's them, instead of you" from Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid... possibly a British thing going on there but if you've heard it, you'll know what I am on about.

anyway, my 10 bono's moments:

VelvetDress *including the new version.... DAMN!!!!!!*
Heartland
Stay
MLK
With Or Without You
Pride
Two Shots of Happy
Electrical Storm *that song has already reduced me to tears*
Bad
Unforgettable Fire

It was Bono's vocals that turned me into a such a U2 fan and it is Bono's vocals that have kept me a fan. :) Therefore, I feel I have to respond to this thread.

  1. Pride - this is the song that turned me into a fanatic. :D
  2. With or Without You - that wail at then end...:cute:
  3. Hands that Built America - that operatic burst is Bono at his best
  4. Ground Beneath Her Feet - I adore the "only love" bursts!
  5. Bad - nothing more be said - just beautiful
  6. New Year's Day - although parts of this song show Bono straining, others are great. This song is what first got me into U2 - and it's thanks to Bono.
  7. I Still Haven't Found... - This is Bono at the limit of his vocal range and he sounds great!
  8. Angel of Harlem - I just adore his vocals throughout this song - perhaps some of my favorite
  9. One Tree Hill - I can't forget this song! Bono's vocal passion filled outbursts near the end ("and when it's raining, raining hard...") are awe-inspring (especially in concert)
  10. Wild Honey - once again, those operatic outbursts did it for me.

There are so many more, but it's easy to see why I love U2 so much. :)
