The Billboard Touring Awards will honor the concert industry's top artists and professionals for the year, based on the Billboard Boxscores chart. Recognition for finalists and awards will be based on actual box office performance. In addition, Billboard will honor two individuals who have made a significant impact on the touring industry with the Legend of Live & the Humanitarian Awards. The 2006 winners will be announced at the 3rd annual Billboard Touring Awards reception on November 9th from 7pm - 9pm at the Roosevelt Hotel in NYC.

Billboard Honors Music Rising with 2006 Humanitarian Award

At a special reception in New York City on Thursday, November 9, Billboard honored Music Rising with the 2006 Humanitarian Award. Legendary producer Bob Ezrin accepted on behalf of co-founders Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar, and U2 guitarist the Edge. Ezrin, Juszkiewicz, and the Edge founded Music Rising as a response to the devastating hurricanes of 2005. With the goal of preserving the incredible musical traditions of the Gulf Coast by replacing instruments lost of destroyed in the storms, Music Rising has helped thousands of area musicians by providing the instruments they need. Not only has this allowed musicians to earn a living and support their families, it has also enabled the deep traditions of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast to flourish. Music Rising is facilitated by the Gibson Foundation. For more information on Music Rising go to www.musicrising.org or www.gibsonfoundation.org.
