This is the kick-ass album that followed Pop in my alternate universe...

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Thanks, I enjoy the MDH U2 songs (is Falling at your feet technically a U2 song? The back cover says Bono and Daniel Lanois) - hopefully they will explore that sound some more - and Levitate and Flower child are my favourites from the Itunes outtake pack. (Have no idea how it would flow though. Will try it)

I'll think about including the Bomb songs.

OK, here goes…

U2’s album of ‘ecstatic music’ – Music that lifts you up, levitates you…

U2 // Levitate

1. Beautiful Day
2. Elevation (Tomb Raider Mix)
3. Original Of The Species
4. Levitate
5. Kite
6. Peace On Earth
7. Stateless
8. New York
9. In A Little While
10. Walk On
11. Stuck In A Moment (acoustic)

Mid tour, they sneak in to the studio and release this EP of a couple of cast offs from the last album and few new tunes.

U2 // Electrical Storm EP

1. Electrical Storm (William Orbit Mix)
2. Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own
3. Love You Like Mad
4. Wild Honey
5. Grace

After a bit of a break, U2 return with this album of two halves – The first, a collection of unabashed rock and roll tunes, anthems, building to the climax of COBL. The second half is a little slower, a little more acoustic, a little more experimental…

U2 // Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

1. Vertigo
2. Miracle Drug
3. Crumbs From Your Table
4. All Because Of You
5. Love And Peace Or Else
6. City Of Blinding Lights
7. Smile
8. A Man And A Woman
9. Flower Child
10. Fast Cars
11. One Step Closer
12. Yahweh

I like the idea of U2 putting some of their best/coolest songs on an EP - not and album. It's a ballsy move that shows confidence in the songwriting...

1.Love And Peace Or Else
2.Fast Cars
3.Ground Beneath Her Feet
4.Mercy
5.Stuck (acoustic)
6.Native Son or Vertigo
7.All Because Of You (alt)
8.Kite
9.Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
10.Beautiful Day

1. City of Blinding Lights (better mix)

Opening a record with CoBL would kill the song. I love it to death, but the press would cry "Streets Pt II!" for months...

I don't think any of those are among the coolest, let alone the best! The first 2 are just okay IMO and the other 3 I don't care about.

Btw, it's amazing how similar Electrical Storm and Crumbs are! The intro, the guitar and especially the outro! But the Crumbs outro is far far far superior to the stupid 'baby don't cry's on repeat forever!

City of blinding lights

Sometimes
Stuck
Original

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own? Have you not heard the song?
Electrical Storm is a cool track.
Love You Like Mad is a good old fashioned Bowie rocker.

Wild Honey and Grace maybe might be a bit harder to get through to the masses, but those first three are really good tracks.

Electrical Storm is a cool track.

Sometimes is good but boring. Half the time I just skip it and go to LAPOE. Electrical Storm is pretty good but the Baby Don't Cry ending kinda ruins it, not to mention some clunky lyrics here and there.

Crumbs From Your Table

I do see a common sound style between songs like Electrical Storm, Crumbs, Mercy, and Love and Peave or Else. Can't describe it really, but it just feels like these songs all sort of came from the same place stylistically.

I'd like to see more of this come from U2 in the future.

What you're saying, I see in Walk On, Electrical Storm and Crumbs... but not in Mercy or LAPOE.

Zootlesque

i just made a playlist of your "ultimate album" and have been listening it in my car as i drive around town...

i have to say...

DAMNED GOOD

it really flows well, and the thematic elements are complete and concrete...

my favorite part sonically:

the transitions from ground/walk/city and crumbs/new york/stateless

my favorite part overall:

Stateless: "THERE ARE NO COLORS IN YOUR EYES"
Then, Mercy: "LOVE PUTS THE BLUE BACK IN MY EYE"

that, plus 2 mentions of the top a new born babies head...

you made a U2 concept album!!!

Nice work.

also

i always liked new york, but thought it was strange in the context of ATYCLB...

in this context the song makes so much more sense.

Wow, I didn't even think of it that way. Just worked a lot on the flow... and made sure I included what I think are the cream of the crop!

Thanks.
