After many polls, the overall album rankings for the U2 Feedback forum are finally here. Here's the list:

1. Achtung Baby

2. The Joshua Tree

3. The Unforgettable Fire

4. All That You Can't Leave Behind

5. Pop

6. Zooropa

7. War

8. Boy

9. Rattle and Hum

10. October

11. The B-Sides 1980-1990

12. Under A Blood Red Sky

Just on a side note, here's my personal ranking:

JT
ATYCLB
AB
Zooropa
UF
War
October
Rattle and Hum
Under A Blood Red Sky
Boy
Pop
The B-Sides 1980-1990

Cool, cool...I'm not sure if UF should have been in the 3 slot, but hey, it's a good album...I agree w/ the person before me, POP should have been higher.

hmmm, i just figured what the heck, i might as well give my personal ranking too. :D

1. achtung baby!!
2. the unforgettable fire
3. boy
4. pop
5. war
6. zooropa
7. b-sides 80-90
8. the joshua tree :silent:
9. october
10. rattle and hum
11. all that you can't leave behind
12. under a blood red sky

honourable mention: wide awake in america. even if this were to be included on this, i'd still rank it #13. why? it's only four songs, there have been U2 singles with more tracks to offer. it's got good songs though. but now the two studio albums can be found on the 80-90 b-sides cd so it's a moot point.

speaking of rankings .......

1. Achtung Baby
2.Joshua Tree
3.POP
4.ZOOropa
5.Unforgettable Fire

the rest doesn't deserve a spot ( Brian Eno is right )

I pretty much agree with BigMacPhisto's personal list, but I would have War and UF above Zooropa. As for the voting list, I have issues with War being so far down the list. I think the older albums didn't do well due to the fact that there are so many newer fans here who don't really appreciate them.

Here's my list:

1. The Joshua Tree
2. Achtung Baby
3. The Unforgettable Fire
4. War
5. Rattle and Hum
6. Zooropa
7. All That You Can't Leave Behind
8. October
9. Boy
10. Pop

I didn't rank Under a Blood Red Sky and the 1980-1990 b-sides because it didn't seem right to include them on the same list as studio albums.

It's hard to number these absolutely, but I see them in three groups:

ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR ANYBODY THAT LOVES MUSIC:

Boy
The Joshua Tree
Achtung Baby
All That You Can't Leave Behind

NECESSARY FOR TRUE U2 FANS:

War
The Unforgettable Fire
Rattle & Hum
Zooropa
POP

AND THE REST...:

October
Under a Blood Red Sky
Wide Awake in America
Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1
Music from the Million Dollar Hotel

This first group are those albums that people should be required by law to own. POP, while VERY good (and one of my favorites) is a bit too odd to qualify. Meanwhle, Boy is so original that it belongs in this group.

Boy: the most underrated U2 album. Period.

The second group are those albums that every U2 fan should own in order to properly prepare for a U2 concert or an informed discussion on this board.

The last group is almost strictly for U2 fanatics - they are probably too inaccessible for many other people.

This isn't to say that the last group is any worse than the first: "One Minute Warning" is as strong as many songs off Achtung Baby. But these are the recommendations I would make to other people.
