I have genius friends...

"So, like, what did Bono do after U2?"
Me: Whaddya mean after?
Her: Like...after U2 was done, what did he do?
Me: ...done with WHAT?
Her: Y'know, done. I thought I saw him in a movie or something.
Me:

Turns out she was talking about the American Stuck video (I don't know HOW that suddenly turned into a movie...).

When I told a non-U2 fan I was going to see U2 on the Popmart Tour...

"U2...aren't they those one hit wonders who did the Batman song?"

Me: Um...They're not the same person!

ok here we go: i was in the car with my uncle and cousins a few years ago, and i put a u2 cd on. they think that the only music in the world is country.

Uncle: is this that band u2?
RickFly: yes it is.
Uncle: they dont sell as many tickets or cd's as any country people do. they dont have any hit songs either like clint black of diamond rio.

RickFly: are you on crack?

that comment really pissed me off. you know in the booklet for the elevation boston dvd when the author says something to the effect of getting in a fight over your favorite band. that is deffinintly true i wanted to pull the car over and ask him to walk.

When I started getting into U2, my father was worried because he thought I was listening to heavy metal again... Poor dad, he can't tell one type of music from the other. He really thinks that they're some sort of bad influence, although I have tried to explain to him what they're about, he just doesn't get it.

My boss says Mono instead of Bono just to piss me off.

That's priceless!

Also, a lot of people seem to think they disappeared after the 80's.

One of my co-workers recently asked my about what kind of music I liked and I told her my favorite band is U2. She asked, "Who are they?" And it's not like she's 65 years old either. She's only about 50, and she looks and acts way younger. Strangely enough I've got another co-worker about her age and she is aware of who U2 are. She even told me once that she thinks Bono is hot.

Local radio announcer after playing Electrical Storm for the first time:
"That sounds like every other U2 song"

Blur fan (jealous that Blur haven't accomplished as much as U2):
"U2 are massified. You always know what's going to be on their next album."

Various people whom was asked what was U2's last single whilst researching if U2 was in danger of becoming over exposed:
"U2's last single? Wasn't that Elevation?"

Girl I was on a first date with, after I turn up radio when With or Without You comes on... "Who's this?" It was also the last date.

October 31,2000... Same girl, stalking me through instant messages a year later
Her: What's new?
Me: NM... just checking out the new U2 cd that came out today.
Her: Wait, they're still around? I thought they broke up in the 80s.

"They're trying to help people's lives. What the hell has Bono ever done for people?"
-My mom, huge Oprah fan, after getting pissed that I, huge U2 fan, called Dr. Phil a schmuck. A few months later Bono was on Oprah. The next day mom had the foot surgicaly removed from her mouth.

College basketball teammate... "Eminem iss way more succesful than U2's ever been, and has tons more fans. Jay-Z too. Did you see the shit he's got in his house on Cribs? And all those cars? Come on."

To this, I directed him to the following...
You're right... they've got sooo many more fans...

And man that condo sure was impressive...

And man... the topper has to be that vehicle collection Jay-Z has. U2 could never top something like that...
